I'm finished making basketball polls

Disagreed with a statement made on twitter last night by Pat Narduzzi and woke up to hate and insults and name calling about me on the thread. It was in the Between 5th and Forbes thread so you have to be a member to see it.

So I'm done. As I wrote just now in that thread, I wanted to do these daily polls to keep the basketball part of the Lair engaged. Probably lots of the same people who went into that football thread this morning to call me dork and names and said it would be better off without me in the Lair(amongst other insults) are the same ones voting in my polls most days.

98% of them wouldn't spend any extra time doing those polls day in and day out but I tried to make the Lair more fun during tough times. And because I dare not agree with a Twitter statement by Narduzzi I was attacked, insulted and literally 9 or 10+ posters liked all the demeaning posts about me.

So I've had enough. Not gonna spend my extra time anymore creating polls and then get insulted and attacked because I disagree with something.

I hope everyone enjoyed my polls, had a lot more in mind but not gonna do them now. Lastly I know I am not a perfect person but I am a diehard Pitt fan. Hope you guys know that. But those insults of me and all the likes was enough for me. Won't do the polls anymore.

Thanks Poker. CoVid has made ppl even more angry, nasty, and looking for ways to attack ppl to feel better. There are also a lot of stupid jerks. That's a good way to live your life as a belief about ppl and not take things personally. Another lesson is most ppl don't appreciate anything but your polls were a nice distraction anyway

Do as you wish. It goes on all the time. I had a few giving me a hard time on the free board because I wasn’t being a total homer/cheerleader. But I couldn’t care less. I know you do, and so does everyone else. So some of it is just needling/trolling you. You react to it too much and people notice. So they’ll eff with you. Now you’re giving in to it but again, do what’s best for you.

So sorry to hear this, Poker, because I am someone who appreciated your polls and the time you took to think them up and post them. I will miss the polls and hope that you may find a way to use all of the ideas that you referred to in future polls at some point in time. I am sometimes perplexed by the naysayers on the board, but I'm sure you have far more supporters than detractors. In the meantime, thanks again for all the polls. They were great!

Poker you gotta do what you gotta do and nobody can tell you how to feel but I think you’re being dramatic here.

You posted a bad take on a Narduzzi take, and people ribbed you about it. Just typical message board stuff, there were no nasty personal attacks or anything.

People know you love Pitt and people appreciate your polls on here. Sure you’re posts are a rollercoaster sometimes but we know that’s just you.

Like I said, do what you gotta do but IMO it’s kinda dramatic to leave because of some jokes.

Don’t sweat it so much. The internet can be a rough place. Good advice given to me once was to do dribbles if you want to, not because you feel you have to.

A suggestion: do a hoops poll 3 times a week. So many of us would appreciate it.

It's probably good to at least take a break anyway. It will be getting harder and harder to come up with worthwhile new poll ideas as time passes without any new real news developments about Pitt hoops.

Thanks for the polls and your efforts, Poker. Social media and message boards are, at their best, inconsiderate and nasty places. I know you were trying to make life a bit more interesting and easier to swallow and that is appreciated, at least by me.
