He obviously held a Pitt offer and visited Pitt six times but the fact that he hasn't visited since September was probably a sign. He did visit Michigan State in January but this was seemingly always going to end up this way given his ties to Terry Smith. It is hard to get kids out of Imani, Gateway and even Penn Hills (although Pitt has had some success at Penn Hills) because Smith is a major player there.
