Pitt was in-home tonight visiting defensive tackle Tyler Bentley, a Kentucky commit out of Lakota West HS in the Cincinnati (Ohio) area. Bentley will take his official visit to Pitt this weekend, but hosted the coaches prior to departing tomorrow. Earlier this month on November 3rd, John Peterson visited Bentley to watch him play. Tonight, Peterson was joined on his trip by defensive coordinator Josh Conklin in visiting Bentley's home.
Bentley is the only uncommitted prospect on the defensive line currently scheduled to take an official visit to Pitt during the month of December. I don't think this is a situation where Pitt is looking to add a defensive lineman regardless, but rather they view Bentley as a talent worth taking despite tight scholarship numbers.
Bentley committed to Kentucky on June 11th, but also had picked up offers from programs like Florida, LSU, Michigan State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Louisville, and several other Power Five programs.
The good news is that Pitt gets this in-home visit tonight and will have a crack at him this weekend on the official visit as well, but he still plans to take a final official visit to Kentucky on December 15th. Indiana and Louisville had also been working to get Bentley on campus, but I don't think he's going to end up taking official visits to either of those programs.
Pitt is still allowed to send Pat Narduzzi on an in-home visit as well, so they still have some cards up their sleeve here to play after the official this weekend. Bentley will joined on the official visit by Pitt commits John Morgan and Judson Tallandier, as well as pair of Florida wide receivers.
