There is an interesting article in the the Oct. 12 edition of ESPN Magazine. It is titled "All Grown Up".
Since being called "little brother" by a Michigan running back 8 years ago Michaigan State has put awhuppin' on its rival.
After decades of Big Ten irrelevance the Spartans are in the middle of the College Football Playoff conversation.
MSU is 5th in total wins since 2010 despite not signing a top 25 crop of recruits since 2010. Oregon, FL St, Alabama & Oh St are the only schools with more wins during that priod. The recruiting class reankings of those schools far out rank those classes at MSU.
Le'Veon Bell was a ** recruit and MSU was his only big school offer.
MSU spent 7 years trying to ovrcome the inferiority complex as it relates to Michigan.
The article talks about how MSU takes these 2 & 3 star recruits and coaches them up.Yet despite the recent success, MSU undoubtedly continues to trail OH ST and Michigan in the publuic eye of recruits. T MSU likes operating as the underdog.
There is mention of Pat Narduzzi and his defense.
I think the article is really a blueprint of what to expect at Pitt from HCPN re: coaching, recruiting and the type of players attracted to that coaching style.
Worth the read IMO.
