Iowa State sure seems confident…

Iowa State …uh supporters being total assholes wasn’t on my Bingo card…

But there it is?
My experience with them is that they’re friendly but typically have an unintentional arrogance because of how high of an opinion they have of themselves.

Yea I mean they are pretty confident for a team that finished 19-13. It will be a close game. Pitt playing in Greensboro twice in less then a week I think will help them in this game. They will remember how Duke embarrassed them last week and will want to avenge that loss on that same court come Friday.

How anyone could watch that game last night and claim Pitt is “stinky garbage” is beyond me.

Don’t know why Iowa State would seem so confident they are just gonna roll over Pitt. They have lost 9 of their last 13 games since January 28th, and lost 10 of 15 overall since Jan 21st. Granted they have a win over Kansas, two wins over Baylor and a win over TCU in that stretch but still they have some bad losses in there as well to Texas Tech, OK St twice, Oklahoma once, and WVU twice. And one of their better players just got kicked off the team two weeks ago in Caleb Grill. So if you lose in stretches of 10 out of 15, 9 out of 13, and 7 out of 10 games like Iowa State has done recently over the last 5-6 weeks you can be beat. And Pitt can beat this team.

This is why I don’t understand the 6th seed. I do understand the brutal schedule, but at some point you have to actually win. 13 losses with that many in the last 6 weeks is rough.

I could also understand letting them slip in with a low seed because they do have some great wins and the schedule was tough.

Don’t get me wrong - they could come out and thump us. But this lines up to me like we are playing another 11 seed type team.

They could come out and thump us just as well as we could come out and thump them. They're overseeded at a 6. They're closer to an 8 or 9, just as we are. The line on this game should be maybe ISU -1 to even.

I'm trying to remember the last time I thought of Iowa State as a power in any popular sport....just can't seem to come up with any period in my lifetime...maybe my memory is fading?

ISU -4 seems like a pretty fair betting line to me. Especially if they consider that Fede is still out/limited.

They were the trendy media overcompensation pick in football for a few years. Under a former department store alias, I battled some posters tooth and nail on the pay boards that the 2021 Iowa State team was, in fact, not the 8th best team in the country (or whatever their preseason ranking was) and that it was much more likely they would come back down to Earth. Consensus was that I didn't know what I was talking about, but their 7-6 record said otherwise (tsk, tsk!).

Ha, but it was like the media was throwing a bone to the "Ugh, not Notre Dame againnnnn" complainers and doing it all through Iowa State. They had one good season: A 9-3 record and Fiesta Bowl win in that weird Covid year, but they got too much love before and after that. Campbell raised the bar - no doubt about that - but not to a point where they're some perennial top 25 fixture.

I don't think he was watching the same game we were.

Stinky-garbage is ridiculous. But at the same time, I don't think last night's game would strike fear into any opponent of Pitt or MSU.

I understand the confidence. I just don't understand the overconfidence coming from an ISU fan. But it's his nutsack, not mine.

A 19-13 team with a 0.500 conference record should not be a favorite over Pitt. I don't give a s$%t about what conference they're in. That's all hype from uninformed people and the media. And I don't use that NET and computer garbage that others swear by. I use my own eyes and see what their record is, which is the ultimate determining factor. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and, if we don't have Fede, they might be a 1 point favorite. It will be a similar game as the Pitt-MSU game...back and forth, lead changes, staying within 5 points for most of the game. If we are to win, we'll have to rebound better, play better defense as we did later in the MSU game, and make out FT's at a 77% clip like we did all season.

We owe them one. Their fans were jerks at the 2000 Insight.com bowl in Phoenix. Very arrogant for no reason. Sage Rosenfels killed us that day. Walt should have ran Barlow and Goings at least 30 more times. So pissed.
Iowa State did give us Johnny Majors 1.

So we can thank them for that.
