Is it really true that WVU had 26 players enter the transfer portal this year?

That's a quarter of their roster!!

Are they going to have a 30 player class to back fill that?

Will they have enough scholarship players to field a team when they play against us in the opener next year?

If I was a WVU fan, and thank God that I'm not, I would wonder what the hell is going on with my coaching staff that that many players want to skip town.

If so, the NCAA rule of allowing them to recruit up to 7 more players over the 25 limit should be in effect.

They could have a good LOI 2 day.

That seems more reasonable, though it does seem like a lot. Someone in a thread earlier this week said 26 and I was too lazy to look it up myself, lol.
I think all but 3 or 4 weren't really contributing in any meaningful way. I think they only have 65 on scholarship going into today. Brown is doing a nice job recruiting. We'll see. I think they're in a weird spot and they could easily end up like Pitt's basketball program if they aren't careful.

What kid is going to want to play in the Big 12 if he has opportunities elsewhere?

LOI 2 day has been severely impacted by LOI 1 day, however. Most of the high P5 level talent will be signed in this early signing period in December. The talent pool will be significantly picked over.

Wonder why so many players are bailing on Neal Brown and the hoopies program? That would seem to be the bigger question? Especially since he’s already coached there for 3 seasons.

The Big 12 is dead man walking. I get UH and Cinni will have national program along with Ok State and Baylor. Three of those programs can recruit Texas. If you are from the DMV, NJ, PA or NY do you want to play in the Big 12?

NB and WVU are building the program very nicely. Attrition happens after coaching changes…even 2-3 years after hire. My guess is that you yinzers didn’t perform due diligence and assess the impact of these kids who left. There are going to be tons of players in portal after every season.

There’s probably not much need to wonder what would happen since they’re going to play the BB next season. We got 4 games coming up. Will be interesting to see if you are able to compete. We shall see.

So, there’s a hole in the boat (Big 12)? So what? We’ll be fine. Captain Smith said we have plenty of life boats.. Someone will rescue us (other conferences)…

Pitt will be a solid favorite in next year's game.

I think even WVUColumbus would agree with that, if he is honest.

That doesn't mean Pitt will win, but they will be favored.

That's their last 4 years. Brown isn't very liked.

"You yinzers"....first of all
we're not all yinzers, although
I'd have no problem calling
myself one if I lived in the
Pittsburgh area.
You for one have often come
on here and chastised us for
making generalizations about
"Hoopies." Here you are
doing the very same thing,
I won't repeat your error by
generalizing all WV residents
or WVU grads in a negative
manner. I'll instead just label
you for what you are on here,
very clearly a hypocrite.

How the **** dare you? Can compete? We are 11-2 not you. You are garbage, yay you beat Kansas! Wow! Whoopee.

Again, most of what they lost isn't really hurting them. Most of these kids probably shouldn't have even been at WVU. That goes back on Holgerson. They're ultimately doing Brown a favor.
Speaking of Holgerson, it will be interesting to see if in a few years he's in a better position at Houston, than he would have been at Morgantown.

I'm betting 50/50 (just like hindsight was for Wlat).

Are they still having "conversations" with the SEC, as reported endlessly eight years ago by the WVU experts who were sure the SEC wanted them to join?
And to show you how irrelevant they are, when someone here said that Brown was recruiting well, I didn't even know that a guy named Brown was their HC. Had to look him up. I've never not known who WVU's coach was before.

I have a feeling Holgerson is going to do well in Houston. WVU I think will win 4 straight NC start year according to Columbus.

They are very confused and won’t admit to the following:

1. That he Big 12 is a dead conference walking.

2. WVU would join the ACC in a heartbeat if they were invited.

Instead, they will tell you they don’t want WVU to join the ACC because it’s only a matter of time before the ACC is raided by the SEC…

So their answer to the following is “Yeah, the Big 12 won’t be as good without Oklahoma and Texas, but the ACC won’t be as good either once the SEC takes Clemson & FSU and Miami…”

Meh, I don’t mind hoopie. Yinzers isn’t derogatory.

I take nothing from Pitt fan’s assessment of coaching performance.

Two months ago they were ready to fire Narduzi. They habitually want to make changes at the top in every sport.

Also, Pitt fan actually thinks that having studs in the NFL (who played at Pitt) is a complimentary aspect of the program, when it clearly is an indictment of the football program/university….one mired in mediocrity for a half century despite said studs.

Holgerson won 11 games this year at Houston.

Brown has a losing conference record over his 3 years.

I suspect WVU will be fine. I see their finished #22 nationally in recruiting and Pitt #60. Yes, they had more recruits, but their average player ranking was better too. So, they got more AND better recruits that Pitt. Not to mention, they now get to fill around the edges with quite a few transfers given they got hit with quite few that departed. WVU is more than fine.

We had the same record (10-2) 5 years ago. It wasn’t a special/memorable season at all. I think we finished like 2-3rd in conference. You guys finished with same record and didn’t beat a ranked team until the final game.

I completely understand why it’s a special season for Pitt. I really do. You haven’t been relevant, except for upsets (which is weak sauce since a team is playing with house money) when you weren’t relevant AND you haven’t had an undefeated non-con season.

And for those of you who complain when I defend WVU, spare me. I always respond to shade being tossed our way. It makes you look soft as a fan base. You say that there’s no rivalry with PSU/WVU and then when “little brother” or “ESP” is stated, you go ballistic.

If I wanted to “troll” as some of you claim, then I’d simply spend 24 hours a day at your basketball board.
