Why not? He was the unsung hero in this comeback, got rebounds and played well. Maia did nothing again and neither did Ano.

We got off to a good start with Maia in the lineup and did the same coming out in the 2nd half. His problem is he commits too many silly fouls and then he gets parked on the bench. We need a guy in the lineup to do all the dirty work inside. Maia has done a fairly good job of this and Luther did it in today's game. If Luther continues to do these things, then he will get more mins.

No. I still like Maia to start. Luther's minutes today go to Jeter when Jeter is healthy.

ANO has some skills but he is a walking foul right now. Some of his fouls are just clueless.

I think you still have to play it by ear. If Maia is playing well, play him more. If Nelson-Ododa is playing well, play him more. If Luther plays well, play him more. Whoever produces the most plays the most.

Agree. Maia will keep starting, but Luther needs to be the first "big" off the bench. (I'm not including Jeter as a so-called "big"). ANO just does not bring enough to the table to not notice how insanely quick he can get into foul trouble. Honestly, Luther could be 5 inches shorter and I'd still be playing him. The kid hustles way too much to not get playing time.

He may have earned some more minutes tonight but let's not get crazy. After the KState game last year he made a couple 3s and some people started talking about him like he was the next Larry Bird.

It's all about matchups and the hot hand with the bench, save Jeter. Many factors, including their own inconsistencies will determine how much they play in a given game.

Great job today by Luther, and hopefully a game that he'll be able to use to build on.

Should we now mention that Pitt did this today without Sheldon Jeter? Who is unquestionably a very valuable and dynamic piece of this team. His emotion and his athleticism are a great compliment to the styles of Young and Artis - and sometimes the missing piece that's needed on the floor.

That said, Artis was phenomenal today. He always gets his points but sometimes it's in a quiet way. Today in the second half he was quite loud....

If Luther was 6'10" he'd already be starting.

It doesn't really matter who starts, what matters is how many minutes they get.

Against certain teams, Luther will work better for us. Against others, he won't. It depends.

Exactly....We missed Jeter today. And maybe more than usual with the ticky tack fouls piling up on post players.

The difference between how the game today was called and the game at Louisville, for ex., is mind-boggling. That kind of inconsistency in officiating has to drive players and coaches crazy.

If they called the Louisville game like this one, the outcome might have been very different.....especially the way they called the first half in Louisville.

Depth gives you options.

In a word ...

No.

But that shouldn't get in the way of appreciating his contributions today.

Poker, you are the king of overreacting to small samples.

Luther gave us a lot off the bench today, but we need to see way more from him before he starts.
