Let's take Pitt's OOC under Narduzzi and replace it with Syracuse's.
2015 Pitt goes 2-2 loses to ND and at Iowa, wins YSU and Akron. Pitt finished 8-4, went to the Annapolis Bowl and lost to Navy finished 8-5. With the Syracuse OOC, URI, CMU, USF are wins, LSU a likely loss. So Pitt goes 9-3 instead of 8-4, who know what bowl, but even with a loss it is 9-4.
2016 Pitt goes 3-1, win over PSU, beat Villanova and Marshall. Lose to OK State. Finish 3-1. 8-4 regular season. Pinstripe Bowl loss to NW. 8-5. The Syracuse's OOC Colgate, UConn, USF and ND. That was a horrific ND team that finished 4-8. So likely we go 4-0. Now we finish 9-3, with wins over PSU and Clemson...we go to a better bowl than Pinstripe, ranked pretty high, even if we lose, 9-4.
2017 Pitt beat YSU and Rice, lose to PSU and OSU. 2-2. Finish 5-7. Syracuse's OOC that year CMU, Centr Conn, MTSU and LSU. We go 3-1. So we finish 6-6 and go bowling. Beat a middling bowl opponent like Bowling Green, fish 7-6.
2018 Beat Albany, lost to PSU, UCF and ND. 1-3. Finished 7-7 won the Coastal. Syracuse had WMU, Wagner, UConn and ND. So instead of 1-3, we go 3-1. Instead of finishing the regular season as 7-5 Coastal champs, now we are 9-3. The worse we finish is 9-5.
So you turn 8-5, 8-5, 5-7, 7-7 into at worst, 9-4, 9-4, 7-6 and 9-5. Maybe some momentum and confidence and bowl matchup yields a 10 win season there. The program looks much different, even though really nothing is different. That is college football!
