We had high(ish) expectations. Did Covid really change what this team really is? After 6 games...how many of us would have called 3-3

Weird year should give all coaches a pass on this season. That said, execution and self-inflicted issues is why this team isn't 6-0.

Not sure what to make of the absurd number of injuries. Maybe that is from the disjointed nature of the year.

The coaches shouldn't get a pass for continued undisciplined play, wide receivers that always drop passes, and an offensive coordinator that operates like a middle school coach having his QB come to the sideline every time to get the play.

This could end up being a disaster of a season. Unthinkable as that may have been at beginning of the season.

Should be favored against both Fla St and G Tech, even on the road. Both of those programs are struggling mightily right now, for different reasons. Probably need to beat Va Tech to salvage a 6-5 season.

Notre Dame probably a little too talented and Clemson is out of the question.

In the words of Bill Parcells, we are what our record says we are.

We have an 11 point win over a 1-4 Syracuse team that has defeats by bigger margins from Duke and Liberty at home.

We have a 3 point win over a 1-4 Louisville team that got blown out at Georgia Tech.

We have close loses to NC State and BC.

Our program is in year 6 and we aren't going to reach the current coaching regime's 8-win high water mark. frankly, the level that the program is at is apparent from the above. This was supposed to be a big year. It is not.

You can just point to talent here or there, when it is clearly deficient elsewhere. That goes for players and coaching. It is a team game, and teams win or lose. Pitt has had plenty of great players and units on plenty of 7 win teams over the last 30 years. It isn't enough to just have bright spots.

Something has to change, or the success will not change. I don't know if that is the head coach, but there has to be changes somewhere. The program is not progressing and it looks like it is being passed up by others in the conference.

What does covid have to do with anything?

Idk, some teams had spring ball while others didn't. Returning to play a different schedule than you prepared for. Missing players at the last moment. Not being able to run normal full roster practices. Key players opting out.

Yeah, I think we Twyman playing and the easier schedule we are better than 3-3

Miami, OH
Marshall
Richmond
Duke
Miami
ND
GT
FSU
VT
UNC
UVA
Cuse

At worse we are 4-2

I’m not sure why anybody had high (ish) expectations?
Quit it. U did not declare pitt will struggle mightily before this season started. U are not a fan and just think objectively without your heart getting in the way whatsoever? Besides, There were lots of things to be hopeful for about this team going into this year.

This is typical Pitt football. On October 1 we thought this might be our best season since 2005. 3 games later it might be one of our worst(and that is saying a lot.). It’s clear that consistency at HC has not translated into consistency on the field. I just don’t know what to do at this point

I had 5-6 in the official preseason prediction thread.

My reasoning has always been: the offense sucks, returning a bunch of suck that never flashed, isn’t going to make it good. We are going to play a ton of close games for that reason, and statistically, after last year, we will probably lose more than we win.

I did. It's on tape.

With a program like ours, you kind of need to have things setup for a nice run of a season once in a 5-year span. Not like OSU where you can simply reload year after year. Walt had it in 2003, Wanny in 2009, Chryst in 2014, Narduzzi in 2020. All failed to capitalize when things were in place for that "special" season . Walt & Wanny were basically done the following years, Chryst would have been done had he stuck around. Same with Narduzzi. Dead man walking now. If he stays, no different than Walt in 04, Wanny in 10...basically just prolonging the inevitable.

you think Marshall on the road is a win? The only thing I see different is adding Clemson instead of Richmond, so that is the only guaranteed differential.

Yup... Narduzzi's plea to the Heath at the end of the season. Which gives him one more year... a year we all know how will end up.

I mean it is hard to argue against that this year. Although in reality it is all just one excuse show with Narduzzi. Heather will buy it though and next year will be Narduzzi's 2010 & 2004 season. Lamo Ducko.
