I'm open minded myself. There is a strong chance based on the timing of both departures that Capel had a come to Jesus meeting with the team -- or maybe even just those two guys -- and basically said it's either my way or the highway. He needed those guys to field a competitive roster back when he took over, and perhaps they felt some level of entitlement that was compromising other's development.

Regardless of which it is, I don't understand why this stuff couldn't wait until the season is complete.
College BB is one sport that can change dramatically in one season. If Coach C can bring in a good to great class we can have success next yr.
This is true but basically irrelevant. We have no commits for next year. Even thinking it's plausible for Capel to go from 0 recruits in March to upgrades over XJ and Toney is wishful and unreasonable.
The last class he put together entirely from March - June - just finished transferring. Not being negative but doing it this late is not ideal. Hopefully we have better recruiting connections right now then we did when he was first hired to ACTUALLY recruit to Pitt.
Someone should tap him on the shoulder and tell him it's time to get started then.
