Is this the best preseason recruiting visits

I would love to see at least 4 DE's and 2 DT's, 5 Olineman, 1 Qb, running back 2 TE's, 2 wideouts and the rest 3 DB's and 3 line backers. Our DE depth just isn't there.

Duzz is embracing the recruiting so it seems. Common theme in most exit interviews is that he's a player's coach and such along with the family atmosphere thing. Local media apparently do not get to see this side along with posters who yearly think he's lost the "room". Perhaps the divisional title will pay off if spun properly by the staff.

Duz's first year he stormed out of the gate with tons of splash offers. He got a few visits out of it. Of course there were more that were local as opposed to this year which is kinda encouraging. Yet, we've seen that up until now, Duz has shown absolutely zero ability to close with anyone.

weve had in a ton of years?

Seems like it to me.

Last year was the first year HS JR's could take OV's prior to starting classes for their SR year of HS. Wonder if HCPN and staff are now trying to encourage more early unofficial visits as a way to establish mutual interest with players they want to invite back for OV's between now and late June?

"Football changed its recruiting model last year to add earlier official visits, starting April 1 of the junior year through the Sunday before the last Wednesday in June." (See link to NCAA document below).

Just some thoughts:
Wonder if Pitt has made some modifications to their recruiting strategy based on lessons learned from last year's changes? Maybe encourage some guys who are willing to come in for unofficial visits in the spring to meet and evaluate them; let them meet the staff and see the campus? Then try to get the ones that are reciprocally interested back for OV's (maybe with their parents/support folks) prior to the last Wednesday in June in hopes of getting commitments?

Lots of visits but no commits. We are the only ACC FB program without a commit for 2020. So the visits may be up but will it really make any difference when all the stars are totaled up?

Great post.

Well getting them on campus is the first step. I’m happy with that.

Yep. Also, it only matters for Pitt if guys who are top priority recruiting targets for Pitt are among those players who are committing elsewhere. If they're not, it's irrelevant to Pitt.

Have to wait and see what transpires. But your OP appears to be on to what seems to be something of a change to Pitt's recruiting approach in 2019.

Pretty amazing that Pitt had the 35th most talented roster last year and won the Coastal with a head coach with zero ability to close anyone.

Zero. As in 0? That zero? Huh?

Narduzzi also stated he believed the acc title game buzz would occur for this upcoming years class and not last year.

Last season is over and it's pretty hard to argue that was a "great" team at 7-7. I guess out of 65 or so P5 schools, 35 is middle of the pack so the record is dead on.

The "roster ranking" will be lower this season because the last few classes have been in the 40's or lower and the bottom of the 2019 class is just bad. I'll be the first to admit that Narduzzi did a great job keeping that team together and winning the Coastal without a passing game but he has to get better at recruiting.
