Is UVa mature enough to handle this?

Ranked for the first time since the days of Thomas Jefferson

1st place in the Coastal and a much clearer path to Charlotte on the line

Big, nationally televised night home game against a team that always beats them.

I'm sorry but if the roles were reversed, we all know Pitt would certainly Pitt this game away. I just feel like we finally have an opportunity for another team to pull a Pitt. I just cant see UVa rising to the occasion

I don't think so overall, but still may win this game. Then they have Liberty looming....

I only recall the night game we had there a few years ago with Voytek at the helm, and we fell totally apart

I was thinking the same thing and totally agree with you. The pressure is totally on UVA.

I bet we run at least one flea flicker or double pass tonight. Just feels like that sort of game where we'll want to figure out some way to get the ball down field.

They play an aggressive, confusing defense. First downs are important. We could easily get butchered for big losses on run blitzes. 2nd and 3rd and long are not great situations for a terrible passing team. But maybe we can catch them in a gamble occasionally and hit big plays. I don't recall much of their offense but figure their skill players will magically elevate to Heisman performances tonight as usually occurs against our D. Hopefully our kickers are serviceable in this road game, unlike the last.

Prime time, evening game, nationally televised.... spells trouble for the good guys.

I really never knock Pitt's program but looking back over the years it is hard not to recall how poorly Pitt has played in this exact situation, it may happen elsewhere, but I doubt others could sustain it (if that is the correct term)for decades, ala 11/28/81 and yes I was there, started drinking that morning with some Pitt students who were friends at about 7:45am and really have not quit since.

I guess the real question would be, can our defense rise up and play a great game against a mobile QB. We don't have to shut them down, but we can't be like we were against duke last week. If we get a good start and put some game pressure on UVA we just might get to see this question answered. If the QB makes our D look silly over and over again, well, they won't have to worry about any game pressure. I really don't have a feeling about this game at all, which is unusual for me. Even tho this QB has really good wheels, he doesn't pass for big numbers. That could bode well for us, as that is the area we are most vulnerable. I would like to see us run a spy on their QB, but, there is little hope of that since the Duzz can't get them to play the existing scheme as he would like. Can you imagine what it might look like if he added a new wrinkle? Adding it all up, I will call for a pretty close game that Pitt will win 27-23. Don't take it to the bank, however.

I expect both teams to play well. The crowd will be a factor, not so much against Pitt, but to fire up Virginia. I think UVA wins a close game 35-28.

We are 14-16 in night games at Heinz Field with only a few of those wins coming against P5 teams

ND2
VT2
WVU

That's pretty much rhe the list.

So far this game is a joke. Two really crappy teams that don't know how to win trying to win a division title.
