for any coach to to proclaim any player his guy not based on results. Close the door on position competition and any kid being recruited will not take kindly to that mind set. There are a lot of QB's being recruited out there that think, " to hell with that", there are other teams . Duzz better make it clear, every player has to compete, the QB recruit from South Carolina looks like a find.

Disagree wholeheartedly.

If a kid doesn't believe he can beat out an incumbent or win a starting job as a freshman is a recruit I don't want. On the other hand, seeing a coach go to bat for his players is exactly the guy I want to play for.

Now narduzzis coaching tenure will become more clear in the next year or two and then we will know if we have the right man for the job....but the above criticisms of the OP are off base in my opinion

Yes, there should always be room for competition at every position. Even a good player can be bested by a great one. There was no one better than Pickett coming into the season. Maybe thats the same situation in 2019, I don't know. But Narduzzi was willing to give Voytik an early hook for a largely unproven Peterman. So I'm hopeful.

Goodness. Look at Saban's handling of the QB position. Nothing needs added.

There’s a ton of hypocracy on this board. If Duzz had said anything bad about KP the same clowns would be flaming him for throwing KP under the bus. Just like the going for a score before the half. If they had sat on the ball they’d be railing about him not playing to win

The fact is Duzz has shown he has his players backs. Players love playing for him because of it.

Saban has the luxury of a roster full of 5 star QBs the reality is that Pitt has 1 average to above average QB by default there is no competition.

This is all true, but at some point the receivers and the defense is going to start to question things if Pitt continues to be a one-dimensional team next season. If they do not want to commit to the pass, there is an expert on the option offense who is now available.
