It is clear from this playcalling, that Narduzzi/Canada don't trust Peterman

I'm still not sure why UPitt89 is claiming it would be worse if 1 of the other 2 QB's played instead of Peterman. Right now we have a guy that can't complete passes on 3rd and 4 for petes sake. And the other 2 guys would be worse?? Now you are being ridiculous and making excuses for Peterman.

Stocker is a guy who hasn't played QB in 5 years. He's a non-QB who is the backup so we don't have to burn MacVittie's redshirt or play Dinucci.

Dinucci is a one-star QB who's only other offer was Penn in the Ivy league.

He was given a scholarship because he was great in the WPIAL and Narduzzi was scrambling to fill his first class two years ago.

MacVittie is the guy. But not this year. Narduzzi isn't burning that red shirt unless he absolutely has to. If Peterman gets hurt, Stocker will play - but the passing game will be even worse then.

The ONLY option would be to throw Dinucci out there and hope he outplays his star rating - not likely.

Peterman, sad to say, is the best we got this year. We'll have to win games on the ground.

Hmmm, well sometimes those Ivy League guys surprise us.

How long would Catanada last on BP staff at Louisville ? Go....
With Jackson as the QB... *YOU* could have success as the UL OC.

If Pitt had Jackson at QB.... we would all be singing Canada's praises... because Pitt would be getting 700 yards per game.

So when will Pitt ever get a Quarterback HALF AS GOOD as Jackson?? And I'm serious. Why can't we recruit a top QB here? This is getting ridiculous.

MacVittie is a top QB.

And he'll be at least "half" as good as Jackson.

But he won't play a down this year.

4 star guy? What other schools made him an offer? And please don't say Bowling Green and Akron.

Agree with most of this but I would rather get MacVitte ready with game experience this year so he is ready for next year. There are a ton of true freshman QBs out there that perform well. I have been at numerous practices and his is by far the best QB on the team. Stocker by the way is the second best on the team. Peterman may be third and Dinucci will never play a down at Pitt unless he is the last man standing.

MacVittie is going to redshirt and play 4 years starting next year.

High 3-star that was offered by LSU.
Sigh, another 3 star. Sorry that doesn't excite me. We've had 35 years of mostly 3 stars. Can't Pitt EVER bring in a top 20 4 or 5 star QB?? Like just 1 time in my lifetime???

MACV is not a top QB, not even close, we were his best offer outside Ivy League

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this. I have seen him in person at practice and he is by far the best QB we have on the team. He need game experience which all freshman do but he is a very good QB. By the way he had other offers and LSU was one of them. Not to bad of an offer.

Well if he is this stud, can't miss guy, glad we finally have one , and guess get him ready for next year
We will have him for 4 years... starting in 2017.

He won't play a down this year unless it is an emergency.

Narduzzi has a long range plan. Peterman holds down the fort this year.... and we hopefully get an 8 or 9 win season..... and then building toward something.

Pitt's offense will be run by MacVittie from 2017 through 2020.

Tyler Palko
Chad Voytik
Rod Rutherford

3 top-rated QB recruits in 35 years

Didn't Canada coach Russel Wilson at NC State and he could not wait to leave as a fifth year senior?

Pat Bostick was a 4-star.

Trust me. MacVittie will be the best Pitt QB since Palko.

You will be wrong and I will take some of that action. Just for the record LSU recruited him for about 5 minutes. The only reason they offered, they lost multiple QB's late. Another thing, Miles doesn't know crap about QB's, that's where QB's go to die.

These are the P5 schools that actively recruited MacVittie.... and they only didn't offer because he was a rock-solid Pitt verbal:

Pitt *
LSU *
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Louisville
Maryland
Michigan State
Minnesota
Missouri
Ohio State

*- offer
He'll be Pitt's starter in 2017.... and barring injury, through 2020.

Nobody is talking about the players that are surrounding Peterman. I don't think he has weapons to throw to. Possibly use Whitehead a little in the passing game.

I've certainly been talking about them.

Pitt WR corp is the worst it has been since before Walt Harris arrived. 20 seasons ago.

Since 1997... we've always had at least one decent "go to" WR.

But not this year.

Earlier you listed him as a top QB. His offer sheet was not as a top QB, the coaches disagree with you.

The coaches don't disagree with me. They absolutely love MacVittie.

And he will be the starter next year.

I have said this four times in other threads, he has one of the best pass catching Tight ends in college football and he does not even look his way. Quadree Henderson is pretty good, Tre Tipton is pretty good. He need to
get the ball to these receivers in stride so they can get some YAC's.

Some thoughts on my mind, regardless if it's the popular opinion or not.

1) Defense lost that game. When they set a new school record for passing yards in a game, you know there's trouble. Also didn't like the play calling, as I don't know why they wouldn't play the corners back 7-8 yards on 3rd and longs. Didn't adjust to that soon enough.

2) Peterman is fine. In fact, I don't think they pass enough. It's hard to have a successful passing game when the receivers can't get open. When he was given the chance, he stepped up the majority of the time. He's the best we got, and they need to trust him more.

3) Offense wasn't our downfall, but the play calling was frustrating. Only ran the jet sweep to Henderson once at most before he broke the one for a TD. Orndoff shouldn't have been the one getting the shovel pass. Too many runs on third and short, especially the toss with a couple minutes left. Could've passed into the middle a lot more, it was open a lot of the game. These are among others. The playbook itself is very nice, but play calling could improve, maybe get more aggressive at times.

Also, can someone explain why they have Manny Stocker, a QB, playing on the front line on KO return? Seems puzzling.

Might sound pessimistic, but just my opinions. I think there's also a lot of positive things we can take from the game. They're a great team and it was an interesting game to say the least.

Not really... he was an early verbal to Pitt... March of 2015.... so teams didn't offer.

That is complete BS and you know it. Kids flip all the time and coaches know it, they continued to recruit kids that have verballed elsewhere. It's called a verbal for a reason, the top end kids are recruited by many schools until the fax comes in on LOI.

Bottom line, you said he would be a 4 year starter, I disagree.

High 3-star that was offered by LSU.

If I remember correctly the LSU offer was very much an outlier. The only other offers I recall were Cincy, Miami Ohio, and Ohio. Maybe a few other smaller schools.

If a school wants a player. They will continue to recruit and offer a kid no matter if he is committed or not.... just sayin
