It's frustrating watching this team play

Stinks up most of the first half to be down 14 to an average, at best, BC team.
Makes a furious run to close the halftime margin to 5

Continues the momentum to build a lead of 12 in the 2nd half
Play stupidly and sloppily to let BC cut the lead to 4 with :28 left in the game
Make 2 unbelievably bad turnovers to let BC tie the game ( Pitt had won )
Murphy makes a clutch shot with 4 seconds left to regain the lead
BC squanders last chance attempt.

Are you kidding me? This team is ridiculous. They should have beaten Wake and U of L and could be at 6-2 in the ACC now but 4-4 is better than they've been for a long time.

Finally, this team goes as McGowens plays.

Not long ago we had Stallings as our coach, and we went winless in the conference. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Yea those last 2 minutes were really bad the turnovers by Trey and then Champagnie on the inbound pass that lead to BC tying the game at 72-72. Last season Pitt loses this game for sure this year they have more shot makers and are a year better which made the difference tonight.

They really young and get in a panic mode. Capel said after the game that they will practice for this. Hopefully they will get better at closing out games.

Maybe if the coach doesn't completely change the way that they run the offense late in games when they have a lead his young team wouldn't panic. Instead of slowing the ball down and running clock the last four minutes, how about do exactly the same thing that you had done over the previous 20 or so minutes when you had outscored BC 46-22?

Maybe that might work.

I don’t disagree, but our half court offense wasn’t necessarily the issue with losing the lead was it? We got a couple of big layups — one I remember from McGowens and the other from JC as I recall — that extended the leads back to the 4-6 range. As I recall further, those were last second shot clock shots either. The real culprit was terrible turnovers and lack of rebounding that led to second chance points. The TO by Toney after grabbing a rebound up 10 that led to a 3-pointer by Jay Heath was a killer. Even if Pitt doesn’t score, the clock goes down to the low 3s. Obviously the McGowens TO was horrible as was the preceding inbound.

Early in the OOC, it was said that everyone needs to get used to this team winning, and losing ugly. It’s just the way it is now. But the thing I am noticing, they play “pretty” stretches and they are lasting longer and more often. They are getting there, but I see that light at the end of the tunnel.

I dunno...
When I’m standing on my coffee table at the end of almost every game, I’d say the team is a lot more fun than I expected.

Not only were they winless, but they lost by about 15 to 20 points on average in ACC play. I keep reminding myself of that and I appreciate how Capel has these guys playing and how they are competing.

Yes. And even last year they had cut the average ACC margin of loss from around 17 pts under Stallings to about 8 pts in Capel's first season. Another step forward in competitiveness has been taken this season. Next season should be even better.
