Who made that quote ?
Address it with them .
I have very faith in Phil but he’s a stopgap insurance policy since our actual highly rated recruit bounced

Not losing a ton of sleep over it. Slovis was hyped like the second coming of Marino and he struggled with simple reads. Wasn't coming at you but that remark was aimed at the people who seem to just like to complain about Cignetti.

That's "modern?"
I'm kidding.

I'm not a huge Cignetti supporter (I was probably one of the biggest critics of Cignetti on this board after the WVU game), but I think he probably deserves three years to try and show us what he can do with the offense. Obviously if next year is a disaster he won't get a third year, but let's all hope it doesn't get that bad.

No extra linemen on the field. And no bunch formations, line up the receivers outside the numbers.
Ok to the extra lineman. I don't like the big sets either. However, many of our bunch sets are run without extra lineman, and are very popular in modern offenses in both college and the NFL.

Who made that quote ?
I don't know if anyone made that quote but the fact that Pitt ranks 79th in ypg, well behind plenty of nearby schools, PSU/Ohio State/Akron/Ohio/Temple/east carolina etc. one would think the offensive attack is a drawback, so in recruiting, a case has to be made for it, for the most part all kids want to try to get to the next level.

Wait, did you say Temple? I watched the Owls all season. I love Temple (I bleed Cherry!), but . . . no running game at all.

Sigh......never mind....it appears to be beyond your grasp
Great comeback since the point was that throwing for 221 ypg could be an obstacle to recruiting top level qb's. Of course D1 level Qb's have had a lot of success throwing the ball and love to do so. It appears that HC and OC have done a pretty good job of selling the possibilities of the offense to capable Qb's. I am not sure what part of this is in any way off the rails.

I think that having an offense that emphasizes tempo and pushing the ball downfield is attractive because it can lead to bigger qb numbers which draws attention from the next level.

Maybe it was due to Slovis, but cig seems to want more of a game manager

Big QB numbers aren't going to fool anybody. BJ Symons was a late round pick & I don't think he ever played a down in the NFL.

If a guy is nothing more than a system QB, a cup of coffee is about all they get in the NFL.

Most of them aren't really stupid. How many elite QBs did Mike Leach sign?
The elites want 3 things -

Elite talent around them

Exposure

Proven system/development to ready them for the NFL...

June Jones would've been pulling in guys left and right if it were about stats.

That's it.. I'm done with these recruiting rankings and scholarship offer lists.. I'm going to start trusting my own eyes.
This guy should talk to this guy
The QB has a room with guys who were offered by the likes of -

LSU, Clemson, ND, Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, etc...

Sounds like there is more talent in the QB room now compared to just a few weeks ago.
