I've been banned

The Ped site banned me for "rules" violations. I told them why top recruits pick PITT over ped u, which they can't understand, I told them about all the things there is to do in the Burg when all they have is football. Oh and I did mention how most kids will pick up on good coaches. After I was called another dumb PITT fan who doesn't know that Pittsburgh is awash with Ped fans, I was banned.

I'm kind of glad because like my buddy, who never went to college, said "you can pick out a Ped U grad in a crowd they are the ones looking down on everyone else".

I've never ventured over there as I'm sure it would do nothing but annoy me but there are plenty of people here who have banned for innocuous stuff. Just being affiliated with Pitt is enough to do it. Their mod is their version of Jim Jones. Can't even have a civil normal discussion in that cesspool.

From one who lurks and sometimes posts on McAndrew, I disagree. I believe that the mods on that board are fair. If you are there only to incite and insult, sure, you might get banned. But reasonable points of view are certainly tolerated.

Unless you threaten someone or use foul language you should not be banned. The rivalry is alive and well.

My favorite nitwit response is you did not attend PITT. I would be borderline today since our average SAT is now 1277. Lol

McAndrew is who I was referring to. Like I said I've read many times on here people have been banned for nothing.

Penn State fans claim the same about Peak which is a joke IMO and they've been told as much
Honestly, McAndrew and Grosz are stuck in the 70s/80s and once they're gone (just mean retired not dead) and the rest of their robots leave things will improve greatly on both board over there

I am of the opinion Peak is pretty liberal and tolerant of opposing fans. There's been a lot of spirited debate and even some insults traded with the Hoopies. But since we don't play them they no longer come around here much other than DarthVadeer.

And in fairness I've never seen what's gotten people banned over there - I've only seen their claims here.

Mkilvanick - you should be able to post here. You are insightful and injective. Our game will be a civil war. Cousin against cousin. H2P

I just don't hate Pitt which makes me unpopular on Phil's board. Plus, being a realist instead of someone insanely optimistic is a problem over there.

I believe, right now, Pitt is in better shape than Penn State. The game next year should be interesting. Personally, I think Pitt wins in 2016. It actually would have been a very interesting game last year

Agreed. I was raised a Pitt fan by my father, who graduated from Pitt and went to law school there in the early 50s. I didn't go to Pitt undergrad, but went to Pitt Law in the late 80s. So I guess that is an ok pedigree. Anyway, I have many good PSU friends, and it just hasn't been the same since the games ended. I am looking forward to these games - however they turn out it will be just great to see the games again. Always like the calls we would make to each other after the game. Winner calls, of course, to talk about anything but the game, which is an afterthought. I think I will be doing the calling this year.

I don't hate Penn St but I really get angered at the whole joe didn't know and he wasn't in charge crap. He knew and that is a character flaw I can't ignore. Too many kids were affected needlessly.

The play on the field is pretty even right now. Should be fun to watch the next 4 games.

I was banned because I interjected myself into a thread on BWI that said recruiting was going well because they had a cumulative ranking of #12. Now this was posted last night. And on anyone's rankings their ranking isn't that high. I said, "perhaps after the DB you guys land over UB and UMass maybe you will crack the top 10" and bango!.....That was enough for McAndrews.

Mkilvanick- ok here was my take. Growing up in the deep south there was always this covert oppressive cloud of racism that tended to interfere with the high ideals of sport to which many of us were being introduced as boys and teenagers. I'll make a long story a little shorter, by the time I had reached thirty years of age I had worked in many areas of central and western pa almost 10 years. In that time I became appalled (disillusioned at first) at the absolute racism among the "WE ARE" crowd.... 40 years and it is still there (perhaps as bad as ever) very clearly and takes little time to show up in a group of nitters when the discussing the in-state rival. Don't waste your time telling me it does not exist because I will then have to say you are either a liar or living within a very small circle of some type of progressive group....it is really hard for me to comprehend this concept in as much as the minority population back in the 70's was virtually zero in many places..since I was not a graduate of any college and worked with many PSU fans, particularly early on when JVP was building an eastern power and many PSU fans had some respect for Pitt which had been on the national stage in '10's and '30s, I got to hear many discussions over the years that were really in poor taste. Is this truth? Was it fair to ban me by pointing it out in a discussion? I don't know or care but it is wrong and is a real negative for that group.

I really don't know who is claiming Joe didn't know but I'm sure there's some. Paterno is wrongly made out to be a saint by many Penn State fans. I don't hold Joe accountable for their actions.

Simply put...Joe's gone...when people pass away the majority remember them for the good and overlook their flaws. That's how life works. Joe was flawed, maybe worse than flawed, but he's gone. Let the JoeBots remember him how they want. It really doesn't alter anything in the grand scheme of things.

I think with Mathews and Hamlin so close in time, the Penn Staters were maybe a bit more cranky than usual. Several of the highly sensitive posters there were threatening rebellion with all of the Pitt fans and others trolling through their conversations, so the mods must have felt that they needed to make examples of some, and perhaps your little dig became one of these.

I'm guessing it was Tom (not the mods) that banned you for that. That's Tom's MO. Fair to ban you? No--absolutely not.
I'm sure there's racists in all fan bases. Central PA would, logically, have more than urban areas around Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
I know plenty of Pitt fans that I'd consider racist. I know plenty of Penn State fans that I consider racist.
Now, there's a large segment of Penn State fan base that is "older" and I think racism is something that is more prevalent in that generation. Again--generally speaking

Maybe a little… PSU fans realize that getting Pittsburgh kids that want to stay close to home is a true challenge. The heartburn comes the day before NSD when they flip. Losing Matthews and Toney sucks, but they seem to always have a back up plan. In the coming years, I expect Limegrover and Moorhead to make a dent in the 412. Pryts to Stanford is the worst IMHO. A legacy kid who's father didn't like the way certain things were handled.

I thought they were the ones running behind OSU, MSU and UM.

Maybe you should have mentioned that the DB also had offers from Cincinnati, Illinois and Kentucky. Granted, not exactly world-beaters but the kid isn't a stiff, either.

Congrats man!!! Hopefully it didn't cost you $200 like it cost me.

You're wrong! I know for a fact!

I was banned over there almost a decade ago for one harmless post, not flaming at all. I've posted on the WVU board as well and while the responses can be mixed, they seem to have thicker skin.

I'm glad our mods take a more liberal approach here.

I was banned a while ago but told them I've been thrown out of better places than the BWI board.
I told them I was thrown out of KMart for barginning to hard for a display model lawnmower. You know the ones people try to start, the kids play with it and everyone spills their slurpies and drops mustard from their hot dog on it.
