Carlton Carrington is still underrated. There is no way Solomon Ball is ranked 40th and Carrington barely top 100 when Carrington carried team melo in the last session of the eybl and in the peach jam tournament and had the best stats on the entire roster in both events . Carrington was all league in both events, Ball neither. Both he and Ross (another Uconn commit) who also played on team Melo are both overrated as I watched every one of these games. Carrington's shooting percentage from 3 between the peach jam, eybl last session, and DMV Live was around 40% (I can get the exact if someone wants it as I have the full stats from all 3 events but have to add up the shots). And most of his shots were off the bounce as he created for himself as team melo had no point guard. Carrington also ran the point on team melo roughly 33% of the time. Ball never ran the point. We got an absolute steal with Carrington. He has the potential to be really good at the next level. His shot making ability off the bounce to hit difficult shots at a consistent level gives him a big edge going into college.
Jaylen Curry dropped in the rankings here and on 247. I said he should be around top 80-100ish. His midrange jumper was not good enough to warrant higher than that and he struggled in certain games. He also put up decent stats at the peach jam and came off the bench multiple times in limited action there, either due to injury or discipline, Im not sure the reason why his pt was reduced and he came off the bench. Ranking fell because of it and Im ok with that. Bottom 150 is low however, as Curry was one of the top players at the nba players camp.
I have no comment on Barnes, did not play enough.
Jaland Lowe got the ranking bump as I predicted. He's now top 75 nationally on 247. That's a little high for my taste because Lowe was exceptional and 1st team all peach jam in one event but was just "good" in the other eybl sessions. He wasnt "strong and consistent event after event like Carrington 3 events in a row to jump to be Top 75. I think Lowe should be top 100ish for now with the ability to go higher. Still, he is a talent and people noticed it.
Papa Kante's ranking varies all over the place depending on the site. Personally I think Kante is around top 80-100ish. Great intensity, defense, good rebounding, but needs work on offense and tries to do way more than he is capable of on offense at this point. On3 has Kante top 30. He needs a lot of improvement on offense to justify that at this point.
Tylaur Johnson is criminally underrated. Event after event in every event he was putting up bigtime numbers and consistently doing it on offense and defense. Johnson is a top 35-45ish national talent and will put up significant stats immediately from day 1 in college. He's a turbo charged point guard that can be a lethal scorer inside 15 feet as he loves driving into the lane to make plays, he takes games over in the final 5 minutes, and hit multiple game winners this summer. He provides a ton of energy on both ends. He needs to be the top target overall in 2023.
