Its been a long time since I've watched that movie but I remember Nick Nolte's character being once a highly successful coach who had fallen on hard times. He wasn't getting the types of recruits he used to, was losing too many games, and people started questioning the direction of the program. So, he decided he needed to be more "aggressive"

in recruiting.

I realize the college hoops recruiting game is as dirty as it gets but "the game" is "the game." I'm not suggesting we do anything we shouldn't but when the going gets tough and your multi-million dollar salary starts to become jeopardized, sometimes you do what needs done.

remember ........if you dont play the game ...the game plays you.

Broken record - staff

he just does not have the help around him he needs.

Its on him, ultimately he has chosen his staff.

But, he sort of has gone Walt Harris with it.

Harris lost his heart for recruiting and the program was talent shallow by the time he left.

JD lost his edge with his staff a long time ago, the slide started at that point and is gaining more traction.

Smoke has to be an absolutely monster in this next class ...

All you need to do is recruit Shaq LeDuex and make sure he gets 700 on the SAT, and buy that white shooting guard's dad a new tractor. and if you don't bother with any of the rules, recruit across other movies and compromise the virginity of multiple Pitt coeds to land Jesus Shuttlesworth, now we're talking Final 4 baby!

Ricky Roe was more of a stretch 4, I think.

Well said. I was going to bring up the Walt Harris thought also. It seems like he has lost some edge and enthusiasm with recruiting and kids are noticing. It is the only thing really that you can come up with. I know we can find 1000 excuses for a kid not committing to Jamie and Pitt, but at the end of the day, those excuses can be attributed to almost every other school not named Kentucky, Duke, etc.. too.
