Jason Capel linked to NC A&T job

NC A&T is a pretty good gig. Harder now in the CAA though. I would guess Jeff would bring in his old Duke buddy Nate James, who was just fired at Austin Peay.

BK would only take the following jobs:

Pitt
Rutgers
Duke
UNC
Kentucky
Kansas
He’s got to start somewhere and if that’s his only option….
He turned down St Peter’s last year which is a better job. And if he was gonna leave for a crap job, wouldn’t you go to Valpo where his friend and ours Charles Small is the AD? Then you would have a lot of leeway

We both know that these early lists aren’t based on true info.
Not saying he’s getting it, but this account has nailed every job that would open so far and usually has good early names. It wouldn’t be a surprise given the success of Pitt this year they would hire a guy like Jason. He checks every box on paper.

And like someone else mentioned, it could be good to have a little attrition on staff and bring in Nate James or break the bank and bring in BK

Let’s hire a third associate head coach!!!

I didn't know he was the AD there. Good for him. What's Marcus Bowman doing? I dont see BK ever leaving Rutgers unless its for Rutgers or Pitt. He wont take Valpo. Missouri Valley is too tough for a program like Valpo nowadays.

Nate James as assistant with Mike Brey as “Special Assistant to the Head Coach” for a year to reset the market.

I must admit I was thinking Jeff not Jason. Jason could very well be up for that job.

I guess he’s got to try to go for a job when Rutgers is at their peak. Does he get better jobs now than he did last year? He needs to take a low or mid major HC job soon if he wants to be on track to a P6 job by the time he’s 50.

He doesn't want to take a low major or mid-major.

NJIT is the former Newark College of Engineering. I would have had to go there if Pitt hadn't offered me a scholarship back in 1971. Its in an armpit of Newark and its an engineering school. Think a poor man's Georgia Tech. I'm not sure you could recruit to that hole.

At least one Rutgers fan is ready to fire Pikiell and make BK head coach.

Why wouldn’t he? It’s not like he’s the top assistant at some power P6 school. And even most of those guys have to drop down a level or two to start getting HC experience.

I’m not knocking BK. I’m just saying that’s the normal progression. Otherwise his best shot is to stay at Rutgers, hope they start doing really well, and take over when their HC leaves for another job.

He doesn't really care to be a HC. He's living in the area he grew up, an area he loves, and is making 600K. He doesn't have that drive to be a head coach. He's very comfortable. Its obvious he isnt going to take a mid-major or low major job. Maybe he'd take an A10 job.

That makes sense. Can’t say I blame him if that is the case.

Having the HC brother as a top assistant has minuses (and they’ve been well documented here) but also pluses. One would hope Jason wouldn’t screw Jeff on his way out like Whip did to Narduzzi

I think it’s safe to say that Jeff and Jason don’t hate each other lol
