JD needs to separate the men from the boys. Those who stay will play. We need to find leaders that have mental toughness on this team.

Money for some better assistants/recruiters. And then Jamie needs to get rid of the dead weight.

Though, this was talked about on one of the radio shows. This team has 0 identity. Jamie talks about Defense and Rebounding, but the recruiting (as confirmed by Rohrssen (sp?) ) during his second stint was to look for better shooters.
So if we are transitioning, that is OK, but then Jamie needs to coach like we are a shooting team and not a grinding defense/rebounding team. If he wants to be a defense/rebounding team, then he should go get those players. Just my 2 cents.

Agree completely on the need for toughness but mid-March is no time to be doing massive roster turnover. Most recruits who would be improvements are already signed/committed elsewhere. (Almost 90% of the Rivals 150 is signed) Majors was able to sign MORE recruits than he had players on the returning roster. The rules don't allow unlimited scholarships and rosters any more.

We have two guys coming back from suspension and injury. We have two guys signed. We are releasing two guys and there may be more attrition. The staff will pursue some short term fixes from graduate transfer and juco ranks but unless we get lucky with a highly-rated high school guy, most major roster additions will probably wait until the 2016 class.

Good post. You are dead right. We do suffer from an identity problem. We hoped jamie could adjust to a new league and different players seamlessly. He didn't. In life, companies, entertainers, etc have to stay ahead of the curve and reinvent themselves time and again to stay relevant. A company like Apple has been doing it. A rock group like U2 was able to do it and have been successful since 1980. In college basketball, someone like Huggy might be doing it before our eyes. It may be a bad comparison because the jury is still out. But in one season, he went to a pressing team and it has worked. Jamie, on the other hand, would simply say "that's not we do". In fact he has said that 1000 times. I am a Dixon guy. I hope this is a small blip on the radar that even the best go through. But the jury is still out in his case too.

You are absolutely right all blame falls on JD, who else? He hires the assistants, he recruits the players and he coaches the team

Nobody is debating that, at all.

Maybe the AD can have JD discuss it with JM in the AM...
What does Jamal Mashburn have to do with anything? Is it that difficult to type a few extra characters so the slowest among us (myslef included) can read a post without having to do the research?

JD needs to decide what direction he is going with the program. Is he staying with no defense and concentrate on the offensive side of game or is he going to try to get some balance and improve defense. IMO if he stays with the game plan he had this season and the same players I do not believe the program will improve enough to content as a upper tear team in ACC. I would think we get some what better but not enough to be a real contender. I see the real issue as the cast of players the team is made up. Just not the right mix to improve defense and get to next level. What is so bad is there was no improvement all season long with defense, rebounding and boxing out around the glass.Normally you would see some the guys getting better as the season went on however it never happened for Pitt. This makes me believe there is absolutely no reason to expect this group to bare down and decide to get tougher. Most of the players give me the impression they just want to play offense and shoot the ball and don't take a lot of the other basic fundamentals of defense and rebounding that serious.

JD really needs a couple of tough guys who take pride in defending and rebounding. Some real work horse guys who can change the mind set of existing players. These guys don't necessarily need to be high skilled players but just have good fundamentals and burning desire to fill a very important role. A lot of average players did quite well knowing their roles and executing to the max. JD needs to go out and look for a couple of tough guys who can play these roles. If not I do not see this team contending next year or in near future. Just the wrong make up of players.!
