I am basing this analysis on our giving 13 scholarships. If we go to 15, it changes.

We currently have 2 to give. One goes to Roman if we can get him.

That leaves 1 more. Hawthorne or Cambridge made no sense.

I see the need for a point (I know shooter, shooter, shooter)

If not a point,a solid combo.Someone who can play point.

Is there any chance Dunn or Leggett get another year?

If not, we need to find someone. No one I know of that we are currently connected to fits the bill.

I doubt they’ll recruit a pure point with Minor on board. As it sits now, is Cummings the backup pg?

I think he is. I don't think that is enough depth behind Minor.

Long term injury to Minor likely ends the season. Can't have that.

Three guards will play a lot. Currently we have 2 of those. The third should have a handle.

Cummings appears to be the best shooter currently on the roster, so i expect he’ll play a lot if Capel doesn’t alter the offense. This roster seems more suited to running with two guards. Not sure how much of a 3 point threat Roman is, assuming he’s even on the team.

Corhen is the best shooter on the team and was the best shooter the last 10 games of season for Pitt statistically. 65% within the three point line. Pitt needs points anyway they can. Maybe they just go Corhen 4 Jackson 5 and hope for 40-50 night dishing it down low. A mediocre guard who hits 40% isn’t necessarily a better play than bigs who make it at 60-65% a possession.

Yup. I should have specified best 3 point shooter when describing Cummings.

The Pitt Official site has a 2025-26 roster posted. It only has 10 scholarship players listed. Is their a foreign recruit from Australia committed? If so, they haven't put him on this roster.

What's up?

Never mind. They just announced signing Lau and added him to the roster on the official site.

How tall is Lau really. Australian report says he is 198 cm. That is 6-6 (not 6-8) if my math is correct. It may not matter if he is 6-6 vs 6-8 if he is "long" as is said. Maybe 6-6 height with reach of a 6-8?

I really can't imagine anyone thinking that Corhen is the best shooter. I mean he's so good at shooting away from the basket that we essentially told him to stop doing that. Most people here think Gulliermo Diaz-Graham sucked, and he made a higher percentage of ones and twos and threes than Corhen did.

It's almost as if who has the highest shooting percentage isn't what actually determines who the best shooter is.

However if that is your metric of choice, Steven Adams, 14th best shooter in NBA history. One spot ahead of Shaq.

Damn, Gary, I really didn’t think they’d be adding another point guard but you were spot on.

Sounds like we might take 3 more? At least 2.

Yes, "Pitt needs points any way they can", but Corhen as "the best shooter on the team." WHAT??
No offense, but that seems as though you stole that from the SMF School of Logic. His 65% is
a result of most shots being dunks, put backs, lay ups etc. Yes he can hit within 10 ft, BUT......

Shooters do not hit 59% from the foul line, as he did last year. His 25% on 3's also speaks to his
shooting ability. Now I realize he doesn't shoot a lot of 3's, but there's an obvious reason why not.
Back to the rest of this thread, Yes, this team lacks shooters. Usually that means guards/wings that
can consistently hit 15 -20 ft jumpers, and shoot a reasonable % from 3. Right now, I feel we're
very lacking in that dept. Cummings can do that, but he needs to develop his overall game more
I think he's capable though, we'll see.

We only have one scholarship left.
From the Pitt official site. Included in the latest recruit announcement:

The Panthers continue to be active recruiting with multiple roster spots remaining for the 2025-26 season.

Oh, right. 15 spots now, not 13.

I'm not encouraged at all by the roster that Capel thinks he's going to put out there. If they had a different coach, maybe they could eek out 18 wins. We're not getting there with Capel.
