JDG out for the season

Capel just said on the radio that he wouldn't be surprised if it was season ending, so just FYI

Have the RS rules changed? What are they now? He has only played greater than 2 minutes in 13 games and then another 3 games with 2 minutes. The NCAA is so liberal now that I'd wonder if he could get a RS. Say his mental health affected his play early in the season and its practically a guarantee.

How many minutes you play doesn't have anything to do with it.

I believe the current rule is the injury has to be in the first half of the season and you can't have played in either more than two games or more than 20% of your team's schedule, whichever is greater. We have 31 scheduled games this year (post season games don't count), 20% of that is 6.2, which I believe they round up to 7. So once a Pitt player played in his seventh game he could no longer redshirt this season. Once someone played in one game past the half way point of the season, which for us was the first Duke game, they can no longer redshirt.

Cant he say his mental health was affecting him and then have the PA AG sue the NCAA for an extra year?

This is a funny post. And pretty much spot on.

There were people here who argued with me saying after last year the twins would leave for a “better school” for NIL. The truth is, they’re gonna be juniors and not any good. They need to recruit over both of them.
They were both backups this year , take it easy
That GDG is substantially than Fede has been clear for some tiem
This season

Why are you so obsessed with decent quality depth players with a lot of length and bounce - I can’t understand

Lol. They’re MM players. Pitt needs to get better. They couldn’t even play Guillermo yesterday.

Speaking of being obsessed…

Jorge Diaz Graham is averaging 7 MPG and shooting 9 percent from the field in conference games.

His twin is averaging 18 MPG shooting 40 percent from the field and 4 rebounds. Actually playing much better than I thought. 6 points.

If you can keep Guillermo without Jorge you do it. If you need to hang on to one for the other you don’t.

Pretty simple. Pitt needs better players at the 5. The entire room should be revamped as I’ve said multiple times during the season.

They are depth pieces

Your constant hardon is annoying.
Your opinions don’t matter

Why would you want to?

Older players are better. Look at Santos. He's 22. How much better is he now than at 18 or 19? Jorge needs a redshirt, either this year or next year. He's a good kid with a good attitude, the type of player you want as a deep bench "project." Would rather have him at 22 or 23 than some 18 year old freshman ranked 145th

What has JDG shown in 2 years here to make you believe he's gonna get better or he will be better? Santos at least had a nice stroke. And maybe he is better because he is hooping instead of being put into only catch and shoot situations above his playing level. Do you think Santos may be playing better because the A10 is a worse conference and he is more comfortable? No, that couldn't be it.

Keeping kids because they're "good kids" is how you end up with unplayable guys like Jeffress in the rotation.

I dont mind keeping good kids like Jeffress and Jorge. Every team needs deep reserves. However, you cant keep them AND have guys like Hueitt (and I know he was a late "scholarship walk-on' add) or Ndiaye coming in to sit as a freshman. When you look at next year's roster, assuming everyone is back, this is what it needs to be:

PG - Lowe
SG - Carrington
SF - Leggett or transfer
PF - transfer
C - Kante

Bench
Cummings
Leggett or transfer
Transfer shooting specialist
Fede
GDG

Not in rotation
Jeffress
Jorge
Ndiaye or Barnes. You certainly cant have 4 of your 13 scholarships going to Jorge, Jeffress, Barnes, and Ndiaye. Those are legit-mid major players, maybe low major in some cases.

I don't think there's any way they're playing a guy off an ACL that has never played college basketball over a 4th year senior who has started for 2 years or Guillermo. I mean that's just a ridiculous assumption. There's no way they'd both be back if the scenario is starting Kante. Fede, and to a lesser extent Guillermo, are spending their 4th and 3rd years playing spot minutes.

Also, why wouldn't Jeffress go to some school where he can start med school in the this scenario?

If I'm Jeffress, I transfer down. Drexel has a good med school. Some place like that would be good though maybe even too high a level. I think he can play in the CAA but not guaranteed to be a starter on a higher-level CAA type team. But if he wants to come back then fine but you cant have him, Jorge, Barnes, and Ndiaye. That's 4 of your 13 players who do not add any value to the team.

As for Kante, I am just hoping. I dont think all 3 will be back. But if Kante isnt thought to be "the guy," then you need to bring in that guy. Someone like UMass's (formerly SFPA) Josh Cohen. And if you do that, then Fede or GDG have to go.

ugh, you want this guy around for a 5th year? No thanks. He's a depth piece? OK, but far FAR Down the depth chart. a 10th or 11th guy on a respectable roster, a body for practice..

keep him around but for the love of god dont extend it for yet another year with a redshirt..

I mean, you talk about needing to get older than instantly jettison the two old centers for a guy who has zero minutes to his name coming of an ACL.

I think they should revamp the center room and tell Fede to move on unless he comes back as a backup, just don't see it going the way you see it going.

I am not opposed to resetting the Center room. No matter what, you need to go shopping for a starting Center in the portal. Can they afford one? Can they interest one? I don't know. But if you can't get a starting center in the portal, I think you need to groom Kante to be the starter in the hopes he can defend and rebound better than GDG or Fede, which shouldn't be too difficult. Fede can back up Kante. GDG can back up the transfer 4. I'd go big at times with GDG at the 4.
