Not sure if I heard a game called by him before but I thought he did a pretty good job the other night and he seemed to be favoring Pitt (guessing his Rickey Jackson and Ironhead Saints association that he mentioned). Not that I am complaining.

I didn't think he sounded like homer, but I did love his commentary from an analyst standpoint.

He wasn't sugarcoating anything and was calling our dumb playcalls for what they were.
He did call out a lot of the stupid Pitt play calls like the coverage on 4th and 25 or whatever the yardage was that led to the PI call and Cuse getting another chance to score.

Lots of good things to say about the play calling diversification throughout the game. Whipple knows how to set up a D but his people just aren't executing many times.

As if anybody had to call out the coverage on that play. And the blame isn't only on the coaches. A player has to know not to his your hands on the damned receiver at the LOS on 4th and 25. Especially with the inept officiating in today's game.

And the blame isn't only on the coaches. ... Just 98% of the blame.

uh, the point being if the kid on D is 20 yards downfield on a 4th and 25 he does not have the ability to get handsy at the line of scrimmage...hell by the time the receiver gets to him their qb is probably lying on his ass...

I said the blame was on both. You can play the man close without grabbing him. He should have been lined up a few yards back. Not 20.These players are the ones who play. Don't always put the blame on the coaches when they screw up. That's like saying the kid is not too bright.

You can play the man close ... Just absolutely positively no reason in the sane world to do so on 4th and 25. None. The coaching staff should have had them backed up not sure why you feel the need to defend them here..
