I think we are about to see cataclysmic or seismic changes in the college BB landscape. Obviously thinking about our opening and who is going to replace Jamie. Realizing that over the next 5 seasons these jobs likely come open:

Duke
UNC
Kentucky
Louisville
Syracuse
Michigan State?? Izzo will be 66.
WVU
Miami

That's a lot of big time jobs not including normal attrition of firings and/or coaches leaving for other jobs.

Is WVU really a big-time job??

Is WVU really a big-time job??

Yes and No. I mean they were a Final 4 team a few years ago, a Sweet 16 team last year and I believe at some point in the Top 5 in the polls this year.

My point, there will be a lot of movement. Will Brey replace Coach K? Remember Williams came from Kansas, another Blue Blood. Kentucky and Louisville will be looking for coaches. I am sure if Miller gets to a Final 4, he will be a candidate for something like this. Who knows about UCLA? Is that even a big job anymore? What about Izzo?

I am just saying that the next 5 years likely will see the most coaching upheaval in blue blood programs than at any point.

Duke will definitely back slide without Coach K. He is the best.
Same for Louisville. I don't like Pitino but he can coach.
I think Roy Williams is a bad coach. NC won't miss him.
I think Syracuse slips too. Playing in NY and playing in front of 30,000 is a big advantage though.
WVU will really slip once Huggins leave. They are playing in the wrong conference.

Roy catches some flak with the fans sometimes in terms of the perception that he is stubborn or doesn't make adjustments when he should, but for gosh sakes the guy has two national championships...

Not like Bill Guthridge or Matt Doherty did much in the preceding years, either, so to say they won't miss him really depends on who the next hire is.

And maybe Pitt a couple of times??

I'm not a big Roy Williams fan but the guy is an amazing coach and recruiter.

Actually miami has really nice basketball facilities. Just built beautiful on campus arena.

Roy Williams sucks,Greg marshall will take that job.

Duke is going to a K disciple. Probsbly WOjO

Who knows with Cal, but Id expect billy Donovan to be sick of the NBA by then

Precisely why we need to get this hire right. It is also why Pitt is a very attractive job. If Pitt gets this right and if our new coach proves to be a good one, the opportunity will be there to firmly establish ourselves as one of the top ACC programs. It also gives the new coach a chance to be the top dog coach in the ACC. But....we have to get this right.
