Plus if he is no good you can go "tight end right" sets and run the ball to the left.
Kudos to him for giving it a shot. Personally not expecting much but hope it works out for him.
He has speed and size, just can’t play QB. Let him give it a shot.

Who are the other TEs? Besides GB and DC, I legitimately dont know. Carter isnt good so I would say they arent either. Jurkovec is big and athletic. Let him give it a shot. If he cant do it, then dont play him. What's the risk? They might transfer? Good.
Cignetti was the OC for Scorin' Dorin, who wasnt a traditional TE and more of an H-back. Perhaps he could carve out a role like that for Phil.
His brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s best friend knows a girl who heard Narduzzi telling all the transfer portal QBs at 31 flavors last night. So you know this is serious.
Does else anyone wonder if this Phil at TE stuff might just be an elaborate hoax brought to you by the guy that dressed Jeff George Jr in the punter’s jersey for the sole purpose of attempting a fake punt against ND?
Regarding Gavin Bartholomew, I’d pack my bags after this season if I were him. Pitt has done a disservice to him.
You do not want GB to transfer! If there was a promise to play him to get him here and they want to honor that play him on the freakin kickoff return. If this were last spring and they converted him to a position that he could add more value ( not hard to do ) then I can get around that but not now.
Bartholomew is laughing all the way to the transfer portal, I'm sure. Narduzzi is going to try and impede him with promises of how next season will be different, and Gavin is going to leap over him like he's a Tennessee DB.
Are some of you seriously criticizing this move? He got benched at QB and wants to contribute and help the team. He's not going to do that at QB, so maybe he can at TE. It's good news.

what a truly colossal screw up on Cignetti and Narduzzi. They had all spring and summer to see this guy throw and come out of 2 camps, convinced he was the answer..
This takes stones and he is definitely not a quitter. When I watched the UC game I thought to myself “he should be at tight end”.

Lots of people drawers in a wad (not directed at you). It’s amazing. How about we wait and see if he even gets on the field? It’s a tall task. He’s more likely to be a practice body but is a pretty good athlete so who knows.
But yea if he does get on the field it doesn’t bode well for that position.
at the very least, it shows true character that he isnt just hanging it up and bowing out quietly. 99% of people in his position would not do this..
Narduzzi probably won’t even bother impeding him. Doesn’t like those TEs that aren’t a third OT. “He keeps complaining that he wants these things called ‘passes’ projected at him. I keep telling him his job is to bash into the DE in front of him but he keeps running PAST that guy and just stands out there waving his arms. What good is THAT?”
Well yea, not GB. I hope he stays but he shouldn't. Go to a better team for more money.
