Jurkovec as Tight End

I totally expect PJ to hurt us at TE. Tipped passes for interceptions, drops, and fumbles will abound. He's never done the position and he's being thrown in midseason. If he plays much, I guarantee he will cost us another game.

Is Jurkovec's pay going to be cut since he won't be playing QB any longer? Even if he doesn't play another position and sits on the bench, his pay should be cut to $0.

Bartholomew is laughing all the way to the transfer portal, I'm sure. Narduzzi is going to try and impede him with promises of how next season will be different, and Gavin is going to leap over him like he's a Tennessee DB.
Gawd. Imagine him playing for Smart at GA…Bowers is gone after this year ya know…..

I guess the bigger question is what did Narduzzi know about the condition Phil was in when he wanted to transfer here last winter? Did he put blind faith in Cignetti's word that Jurkovec still had it? Did they put him through any type of workout (if that is allowed by the NCAA)?

Not sure if Cignetti would even know whether or not Jurkovec still had it. They weren't together last year. I think it was just a guess, and Cignetti and Narduzzi guessed wrong.

If they had PJ throw the football this would have been their reaction so I am going with no they did not look at film or ask him to throw

Cant see him taking many reps from the established guys. They are underutilized as it is.

Pitt sports have a long history of being hoodwinked by charlatans, seeing it happen, and incredibly still keeping the perp around … Barnes being the best example (even after the Dixon and Stallings debacle, idiot Gallagher begged him to stay). But go back, there was Chryst, Graham, Cav as OC (recall him saying the pick 6 that Palko threw to lose to freaking Ohio with their 150 year old HC was because Cav didn’t remember that the hash marks were different in college?), Oval Jaynes and Hackett and on and on.

Are some of you seriously criticizing this move? He got benched at QB and wants to contribute and help the team. He's not going to do that at QB, so maybe he can at TE. It's good news.

If the other TEs are concerned about a converted QB moving to their position, they might as well hang up their cleats right now.

The funny thing is that some of the people criticizing him for trying to play tight end are the same ones who bitched that he was only here for himself and didn't give a crap about the team.

Knowing nothing about the particulars of his position move, of the NIL deal that brought Jurkovec here in the first place, or even if there IS such a deal, above and beyond the standard one for all the players that got announced a few weeks back … he’s to be commended for staying with the team. That’s an ugly situation he went through. One could easily see him slink back to Pine Township and hide for the rest of the fall.

Now, if he DID get some sizable deal (sizable in Pitt terms of course, which is nothing like sizable would be in, say, USC to Addison terms, but still might be decent) … and if there is a contract… it could well be that he has to remain an active scholarship player to qualify for the payment. I suppose the company could just ‘give’ him the money either way (or simply not ask for it to be returned).

But… dam, forget it, it just gives me a headache contemplating the whole dam thing. What a shame it all went down this way… even if there is some money involved, overall I do think he deserves some kudos to stick it out. If this were a movie he’d even catch a pass to win a game from his ‘bitter rival’ Johnny Lawrence, I mean Veilleux

Duzz will justify by saying “we” owe it to him to better his chances of making a living in our sport. Even after spurning Pitt a second time. Lol. Hopefully media won’t even ask him directly to explain this madness.

Lots of people drawers in a wad (not directed at you). It’s amazing. How about we wait and see if he even gets on the field? It’s a tall task. He’s more likely to be a practice body but is a pretty good athlete so who knows.

But yea if he does get on the field it doesn’t bode well for that position.
So long as he’s no longer throwing the ball -
It’s a step in the right direction

Thankfully (?) because of the Steelers, Canada and Pickett causing local state of emergency, Pitt doesn’t not even exist in anyone’s mind, especially the media, other than to report our latest loss on Saturday evening with a chuckle and then going on to highlight the PSU and WVU victories. Even then, is just a 15 seconds rundown total, as they then turn to the breathless Steelers update.

A decrepit DiPola or whatever the latest cultist the PG has covering our beat will show up for Duz weekly conference and mockingly ask him “what went wrong on Saturday” and he’ll blame the fans or some other such crap, say he has to watch the tape, with a curt “No changes next week” then perhaps a pathetic insult of someone and it ends.

It will be even less attention once the Penguins start play on Tuesday. And thank goodness for it.

Its a free board. You and your progressive brethren sure do like shut down speech.
Shush isn’t shutting down speech
It’s treating a childish retort the way it deserves
Hey - I’ll give you a ticket if you actually care to come to a game , even buy you concessions
Since you’re on a fixed income and can’t make it

I have no interest. I attended 1 game live in my life. That was enough for me. I like the comfort of a couch and TV.
