Dear Panther Nation,

Although our opener is still three months away, we are proud today to share with you the news of our recent ticket sales success. With 93% of tickets being renewed and nearly 10,000 new season tickets sold, we are on track to set a new record for Pitt season ticket sales.

Thanks to tremendous Pitt fans like you, we are approaching the all-time record of 53,775 season tickets sold set in 2003. The record will likely be set in August when the majority of undergraduate student tickets are purchased.

Championships are never won by working alone. It is only through teamwork and a shared vision that greatness can be achieved. Your commitment has made our ticket sales possible. We are incredibly grateful to have you as a “teammate” as we strive to build upon the accomplished tradition of Pitt football.

You will be proud to know that our student-athletes have been diligently working in the classroom and weight room this offseason. We have no doubt that the news of your incredible support will provide them with even more motivation to make the 2016 campaign a memorable one at Heinz Field.

Hail to Pitt!

with smiley gone, this is not surprising. gallagher was very wise to kick him to the curb.

the entire program needs to keep moving forward and good things will happen.

The first step is to get the season tickets sold. Then give the fans a product and enjoyable game day environment/experience that will make them want to go the games and keep coming back. But it sounds like things are trending positively w/r/t to season ticket sales at this point in time.

The best thing to make fans happy is wins. I like the direction the Duzz is heading.

So Little Done, and So Much More to Do, But It Has Begun!

Season tickets sold and attendance are two different things.

Season ticket sales weren't much of an issue for Dixon for 14 years .
I'll give you a hint the variable which did .

Souf is correct. If PSU was not part of this home schedule the numbers are less impressive

Pederson correctly brought in names like Texas A & M, Michigan State......attendance....tickets sold........in the 40's for both marquee names.

The variable as Souf points out....is winning. Any AD...even the Steve....looks better when that happens.

I'd also add in a crappy fanbase is a variable as well...

So happy that their was a pretty sad crowd for the coastal division lead last year vs unc?
pittguy, thought you hated crowds and traffic.. these weekday night games are your wet dream, no traffic jams, light crowds, you can be home on your couch watching matlock reruns, 15 minutes after the game is over. what are you upset about?

As usual with the negative waves, Yep, Pederson was a constant in not changing his views or paid consultant's branding turning off Alumni.

Good point, Pederson was consistent with his stalwart adverse impressions that only Pederson's branding and Pederson's Coaches can make Pitt win more games!

Still, Pederson could not do that at Pitt or Nebraska and NU's Pearlman & PITT's Gallagher figured it out both Programs were better without Pederson.

After all, it is good Pederson is gone and your support for him all those years and regrets he is no longer here is the other constant on why you are full of gloom and doom for Pitt.

I guess it is tough why don't you quit the jeers and how beautiful it is out here to cheer with a little faith, it won't hurt you to say something virtuous and hopeful for a change?

As Barnes said, No one has told me they dislike bringing back the Pitt Script!

I guess Barnes has not talked to Southy or Pederson?

oh Christ, we have to endure souf telling us daily how bad we suck as fans, now he has a little minion to preach to us as well. Sweet..
Swervin, beat me to it as Southy beats his dead horse about how Great Pederson was and how bad Pitt will Always be......the only mistake Pitt made was admitting him with such a myopic negative view of himself and his Alma Mater!

We play in the stadium that is too large for us. Pitt is not a large diploma mill school. TCU has been one of the best programs under Gary Patterson, and they avg. about 40-45k over his tenure. What about the U during their glory years? They were the best program in the country over a 25 year span, and avg. about 45k over that time period.

The stadium horse has been beat to death so many times its now being reported as a mass murder!
It is what it is until this 3rd party Barnes hired completes its study which will say an on campus stadium isn't possible!
Barnes will say we were all hoping for a different answer but here it is end of discussion!

Easter Subday I understood the noise over the Stallings hire... Then nobody transferred no one recruited reneged and I'm hearing the staff is working alot harder on the recruiting trail.... In other words I don't understand blind negativity about the hire anymore.... Maybe some should "come clean"....

competitive OOC with interesting opponents helps increase fan interest.. Who would have guessed.. --Jamie Dixon not pleased.
Not really the same also as conference opponents are viewed differently between the sports.

The season tickets sold is nice, but somewhat meaningless, especially with psu on the schedule. For this subject, I'm far more interested in how many show up for the Marshall and Syracuse games.

Quite a few tens of thousands of those season's tickets sold are to PSU fans. I know quite a few myself who bought Pitt season's tickets just to be able to be at the Pitt-PSU game, nothing else. They admit it. If it weren't for those slimeballs, it would be more of the same as every year. Maybe less.

Seriously, that's moronic. PSU fans didn't buy "tens of thousands" of our season tickets.

They will say they did and claim that 40K Pitt fans showes up to watch Pitt play Villanova but only 30K Pitt fans showed up the next week to watch us play Penn State.
LOL, you are right.. psu fans, wvu fans, nd fans all say that garbage. "We had 25,000 fans at Heinz" uh no, you really didn't. the math doesn't make sense.. these matchups actually brings out more pitt fans, the fair weather bunch so unless Heinz constructed about 10k more temporary seating, it's not even close to being possible..

This is surely one of the dumbest threads Ive read on here also. We are setting a record in attendance and everyone is bad mouthing the post or saying other fans bought seats. Same was said for notre dame... guess what? I was there, there were not many notre dame fans there. There is no doubt what-so-ever that Narduzzi has brought more enthusiasm to the program, and the fan base has increased. I think the younger crowd is more pro Pitt... and that makes sense, we have a decent team, good NFL talent and PSU went through a child rape scandal.

Debating it is dumb, we are clearly better off now than a few years ago

Well the myth is perpetuated in the clueless Pittsburgh media too. I heard Jerry Dipaola said something to that effect on the radio because he heard "tons of PSU fans" he knew were buying tickets through Pitt.

I know a few Penn Staters that bought Pitt season tickets. The real test comes next year and the truth will be revealed as Pitt doesn't play Penn State, Notre Dame or West Virginia at home. Oklahoma State will be the main attraction and that doesn't move the needle.

I dont know a single penn state fan that bought Pitt season tickets to go to the Pitt PSU game. Any PSU fan would just buy tickets at the stadium off scaplers.

That would be the day I buy PSU season tickets to go to one pitt game next year. If you would do that you are insane.

There's a lot of PSU fans in Pittsburgh who don't want to bother driving to Happy Valley to watch them play but will drop the cash to watch them play at Heinz Field. It's not tens of thousands, but I don't think it's an insignificant number either. As someone said, look out for attendance at the Marshall and Syracuse games. Should be telling.

Yeah but when season tickets aren't much more than $100, it makes sense for many PSU fans to get them.

I'm guessing that PSU seasons tickets are triple the cost of Pitt's?

yep, stigma that even Pitt 'supporters' have bought into and kept relevant (some justified) by local media and psu, wvu.
