Kene needed to finish

Kene contributed more than be reasonably expected.

He’s just not talented but he plays with effort

Agree. He played well in the first half but obviously struggled down the stretch. I felt bad for him after missing the FTs and bunnies. He hustles. He wasn't his best today, and even at his best we need 20+ from at least one of our guards to compete.

Kene played well in the first half, but was awful on both ends of the court in the second half. Brown provided nothing either, except stupid fouls.

That sequence and what followed turned the game around. He missed 2 FTs too, so left a quick 6 points on the table. That made everything more dire as Louisville went on their run

Agree. Pitt failing to come up with those 6 points afforded UL to have an opportunity to get some breathing room.

Think they were a bit tight and anxious until that juncture. But Pitt missing those points - the 2 layups looked like they were going to be sure things - seemed to enable the Cards to relax some. With some of the pressure off UL appeared to play more free and easy and it helped them to pull away.

Yeah I thought that sequence of plays was the turning point in the game.

Both Kene and brown were awful in the second half. Not going to win many games when those to are huge negatives

Reinforces why we need to recruit at least two good bigs before next season.

There’s a fine line in criticizing a player whose basically an amateur athlete . Lack of effort or conditioning are fair game as is bad citizenship . Everyone saw what Chewy brought to the table last yr and unless JC possess magical powers he’s nothing more than a practice player at any solid D1 program . At the correct level he’d be a player and is probably a better bb player than any of us ever was . You can see he tries his heart out , but unfortunately he’s just overmatched . Also unfortunately Pitt doesn’t have enough quality bigs to relegate him to the bench .
I also dislike the constant criticism of M Ellison . I never once heard him tell us that he was a great player . We’ve seen what he is and unfortunately it’s not lived up to the hype . That’s not his fault .
No one would want their kid to be subjected to some of the descriptions of their play that you read on these boards . Calling for reduced PT or playing another guy over them no problem , but telling the kid to move on his life’s work . Too much he’s a twenty yr old college kid .
