Kewl...playing UCF again.

We are likw 3-20 in Tennessee type games and 20-5 in buy games. Lets not pretend both are a going to be 1-1.

Iowa 1-3
Neb 0-2
MSU 0-2
NC State 0-1 (home game canceled due to joining ACC)
Cincy 0-1
Utah 0-2
A&M 1-1
OK St 0-2
Miami 0-1 (before we joined ACC)
UNC 0-2 (before we joined ACC)
PSU 1-3
VT 1-0
Ten 1-1

Correct. Add 1-1 against Virginia and WVU and it's like 7-23 without counting Notre Dame, which only makes it worse. At what point do we realize we're not good enough to be scheduling these games?

Again, I was all about it until this NIL and free transfer stuff. But now that our program is plugging and eventual deluge from a dam leak with a piece of Bubble Yum, we need the OOC to be weaker than ever before.

Home and home with MAC, Sun Belt, AAC, CUSA (if that's still a thing), etc. One FCS game. One G5 buy game. If you can't afford the latter, do a G5 2 for 1. And I am not talking about the class of these G5 conferences, either, because that is a lose/lose situation.

I'll anxiously await the next announcement that we're going to do a big series with Kansas State (oh boy!) next. 60% chance we lose both games, and we can really whet the palates of all 32k who show up to see the nationally-renowned Wildcats.

If we are going to play a UCF then why not just schedule a low tier SEC team instead. Much more cache and just as likely to win.

Kansas State is absolutely the type of team Heather would schedule. They draw 9 extra fans and very good chance of 0-2. I dont understand what she is doing with these 10 P4 game schedules.

You optimists are all the same. Every player is great and not to be admonished. Until the second they leave... then they sucked and we are better for their departure. Absolutely twisted logic. If NCPitt likes your post, that's an excellent indication that it should be deleted immediately.
Yet the king of doom continues to post more ... doom.

I don’t either especially when she has no problem doing it in bb. The data overall points to skewing away from a P4 for that one game every year, but not a slam dunk either. Part of it might be there’s just not a lot to choose from by the time it’s Pitt’s turn on the clock.

Well, either that or like at almost every other P4 school the head football and head basketball coach have either a large amount of input or the right to schedule however they want in the non-conference. There is no reason to think that Pitt is any different than anyone else.

And the fact that Pitt's schedules completely differently in football and men's basketball might lead one to logically conclude that that's simply because Pitt is acting like just about everyone else, and the difference in scheduling philosophy is because of the coaches and what they want and not because of the AD.

So Narduzzi likes the stronger SOS? Makes sense I guess because 2nd and 3rd tier bowl games do use metrics and SOS and not fan travel when picking teams

I've been critical of our OOC scheduling for many years, but when you lay out the OOC record like that, it actually looks more like a pitiful football program problem than a pitiful scheduling practice problem

Maybe he figures that a loss to UCF is just another ho-hum loss, but a loss to Western Michigan is potentially a lot worse.

That too. But I was just saying when we lose 90% of these games it’s fair to say “maybe just win them once in a while”. If we were even 50/50 in these games we’d be stacking wins against Iowa, OK State , Wisconsin, etc. While that isnt Ohio State or Texas, at least wins against P4 schools that we like to claim we are peers with

They have to want to schedule you too.
This. I think we’re getting closer to the point where the “Power 2” (Big Ten, SEC) will schedule traditional H&H’s with each other while only playing the ACC and Big 12 under the following conditions:

1. Standalone home game
2. Neutral side game
3. 2-for-1 agreement

The exception would likely be long-standing rivalries such as Clean Old Fashioned Hate, the Palmetto Bowl, etc. The moment the new CFP deal payed out more to those two conferences than the rest of us was when the disparity became official.

Agree. That’s even worse than the MLB model. Pitt, especially fb, heading the way of small market mlb.
