I was in 513 - You could see only one Pitt player would have a chance to be in position to make a tackle BEFORE the Tech returner even caught the kickoff.

It was a bad kick. It was supposed to go down the middle.

I heard Narduzzi say that on my way home.

The kick was fairly deep but was also very high. I think our kickoff team should have been in better position taking those 2 elements into account.

Guys are still supposed to stay in their lanes regardless of where the kick goes . Our guys didn't

Bad kick, missed tackle, terrible job by everyone else after the missed tackle. And not that it really mattered, but looked like a pretty clear block in the back at about the Pitt 20-25 yard line. I don't have much faith in our kick and punt coverage teams right now.

32 Phillipe motley had a poor game on special teams yesterday.

That's where you really feel the depth issues Pitt has. Look at chawntez moss and Aaron Mathews physically and then look at guys like motley and Ryan Lewis.

This explanation, from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

“He was trying to kick it in the middle, but he ended up kicking it outside in the corner, so there wasn’t really anybody there except for one person. The No. 2 guy, he squeezed in. It was one-on-one with their safety guy. I made him miss and it opened up.

I disagree on punt coverage. Our gunners always get to their return man very quickly and it has been very infrequent for a second guy to miss a tackle if the first on whiffs.

Well I do think you're right there. But that's still not good IMHO. Like yesterday, guy on GT doesn't fair catch... should've gotten rocked and would've been really hard to hang onto the ball. Instead the tackle is missed. Didn't get far, but there was still a missed tackle.

So yes, you're absolutely right most times the second guy brings him down. But the first guy misses almost every single time. I'm not OK with that.

Although that happens on defense almost every play too, so maybe it's more tackling than just that unit. The play I just mentioned from yesterday though made me sick. You gotta level that guy every. single. time. But overall, I'll admit you're probably more right about that unit than I was.
