Kudos to the Pitt Band...

Yes the classic head in the sand someone else response. Keep looking for the truth
What? The kid that was arrested for this incident was a Pitt student from Easton PA. His name is Richard Eisenberger and he was 20 at the time. This is a simple fact, nothing more or less. Read the article.

The PITT band was Great Again!
Congrats to the band people!

Mrs Buffett and I do our stuff, get our stuff, before halftime and watch the band and other halftime activities.
The Barnum and Bailey theme with the three rings was very interesting.
We love winners and the PITT band is a Winner!

The band is always top notch though I wasnt feeling pitt dads dancing to staying alive
How could I forget that.
You always have to give the parents a good job.
Some dad's had it going, and some didn't!
But they were out there and they all get credit for that!

Mrs Buffett loves the PITT Dance Tean but didn't like them in skirts or whatever they were attired in.
She said she likes the tights look.
When they dance she dances in the stands. Other than the Nitter game she's had alot of room.
But it was all good!

The blue band is VERY good, but what brad Townsend has done at pitt has been impressive.

If pitt had a full music school (using PSO artists as professors) they would put Duquesne out of business and grab a lot of students that go to PSU and WVU for music.

I think they would frankly be top notch, not just on a band level, but just in general with the cheaper costs and being in a large city with more playing opportunities they would be able to compete with a lot of other large well established music programs.

Thanks for reminding me. Jack R. is a legend, but the band is much better now. The Dancing Dads were a stretch but I like the imagination.

SIAP...Sometimes football enthusiasm turns ugly and brings out the worst in people. Here is a great look by the Pitt Band...

Penn State sucks. Sorry, it's the truth. Another truth? Joe knew and your University enabled a Serial Pedophile ( who also was your assistant football coach ) for over a decade.

Success with Honor . Go away

I loved jack, great guy, but frankly pitt’s Band wasn’t as good as some local high schools under him.

Jack is the Walt Harris of Pitt Band, saved it from the unbelievably terrible years that came before him. And everyone knows the insane stories of how little support football had under Pederson (couldn't even get new carpeting in the practice facility), well the band had it a lot worse. They still aren't on the same level as even the average p5 band, but Jack never had a full size practice field on campus after Pitt Stadium was torn down (they have one now), or a full time assistant director (they have one now).

Band still needs a decent place. The trees spot is not good. But Heather, Brad (even though a nitter) do a good job. Remember over half the band are engineers. It is a fun diversion, not an intense drill band like Michigan State or Ohio State. Numbers are up and they sound great

as I said......well over half are engineers. This is a fun diversion from thermodynamics. It isn't a marching band is your mission in life like OSU or MSU or someone like that. So without a big music program it will never be like other P5 schools. But the numbers are pretty good, so if it attracts kids since it is something fun then so be it.

I was talking in terms of support from the school, not quality of the program. Michigan is similar in terms of having a ton of engineers and science majors in their band, for example, but are way ahead of us in terms of funding and staff numbers, so it goes a long way.

And Michigan has a highly regarded School of Music, so they have built in support just from that. It's a completely different landscape than Pitt.

True, but Pitt could also start doing half steps, a 7 day band camp, and getting in the kids faces when they mess up drills to get at that level also. But then the fun goes out and your numbers would probably go down since there isn't the underlying music program behind it.
