LA Lakers gets Westbrook via trade

The fit is questionable here unless James wants to play more off the ball and he spaces for Russ. And the Lakers gave up a ton to make salary. Not sure how they fill out their roster either.

I will say that they will get full effort from Russ. If they do not win, it will not be from lack of effort by him.

Ugly fit here. I just don't see it - LeBron James let his brotherly feelings influence him to push this through.

Might mean the end of the Championship Series run he's been on.

AD will greatly benefit from the fast pace Westbrook brings to the table. It will also allow LBJ to get more rest during the regular season. They just need a consistent outside shooter and some solid bench players to provide depth.

Lakers add Ariza, Ellington, Howard too.

Lowry to Heat break my Raptor heart but if he had to go somewhere that's an awesome landing spot.

Wonder where DeRozan will end up? Maybe Heat too?

To summarize - the Lakers have added Carmelo, Monk, Nunn, Bazemore, Howard, Ariza, and Ellington after getting Westbrook.

I still think Westbrook is a bad move, but they sure did a good job getting some solid 3pt shooters around them. Melo, Nunn, and Monk were all 40% from beyond the arc last year. I think Ellington was too.

And... I actually think bringing back Howard is an upgrade over Drummond. Drummond is all empty stats. I think he's not going to help Philly.

The Lakers are my pick to win it all over the Nets. I think Russ is going to thrive because he doesn’t have to carry the team. He is best suited when all the spotlight isn’t on him.

I'm also figuring there's gonna be strong F-You energy from he and LeBron at the thought of beating the Nets for a chip.

You may be right but do you think he realizes that?

He’s a great player but I wouldn’t say he’s a winning player. If he decides to occupy that role I agree. Not sure I think he will. But who knows. He’s getting older and maybe the light bulb will come on. When someone that good keeps getting traded/asking for trades it’s time to take a good long hard look in the mirror.

Russ, Bron, Melo, Howard would be an incredible squad..........in the early 2010s.

Not sure about this version though. A.D. isn't dependable either.

It'll be fun too watch though. I was listening to the Brian Windhorst podcast and was reminded that Bron tried this before with his last Cleveland squad and they had to blow it up mid season. That squad had D-wade, D Rose, and Isaiah Thomas. It didn't work out and they all were traded or let go mid season.

Listening to that one as we speak! I think this group of old guys is slightly better than that group of old guys. I know Rose had a resurgence last year but he and Wade were pretty washed on that team.
