Lamar Jackson

Not a Jackson fan at all, I don’t see him or Allen having the accuracy necessary to be successful at the pro level. Jackson is no Cam Newton either, he doesn’t have near the size or durability to run the ball anywhere near as often as he did in college.

To be honest though I was overjoyed when the Ravens drafted him, I needed that 5th QB drafted in the 1st round very badly.

Yep, he is the definition of a college QB. The NFL is a completely different animal, I do not understand how the NFL GMs still do not realize this. Jackson was a great college qb, but nowhere near the skill set to be a NFL qb. The best he can hope for is to be like RG3. Be outstanding for a few years then be so beaten up that you are a shell of yourself. He is not going to be a long time starter 3 years tops.

I don't know whether Jackson will or will not be a good pro QB. But I don't believe he is good enough for the Steelers to have taken him with their first round pick. I don't see him ever becoming a franchise QB and that is the only way I would have taken a QB first round with them being Super Bowl contenders.

Nobody who thinks run first sb your QB pick

especially in the 1st Rd.

That’s why he was 5 of 5 and a waste of a1st Rd by Ravens but good for the Steelers.

Steelers got gifts from both the Browns and Ravens....almost like having an extra pick when half your division did what they did last night.

A gift for the Steelers that the Ravens took Jackson, and another gift when the Brown selected Mayfield. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

He has a very similar skill set to Mike Vick. If Jackson works at his craft, then he is going to be a good player.

in this day and age, you cant have your Future franchise QB, your first Rd QB pick, sit on the bench for more than a year. 25 years ago, you could draft your guy and have him hold a clipboard for 3 years, learning. Now? Not so much. You have 1 year to do that then it's time to start earning your money.

with that said, we have to somehow find out a good estimate of how many more years Ben is thinking about and draft accordingly. If he has 2 or even 3 years left, we have some time before we have to start figuring out who our next QB will be.

Agree

No serious injury bet here is 3 minimum...

Then again Ben, one would think , really wants that 3rd Ring. If he gets it in one yr or 2....why not try for the franchise tie.....lol

I don’t think he will be elite, but I think he will be able to make some splash plays at the next level. And perhaps be a starter for a decent run. if Flacco gets it together, then they have a guy they might be able to use as a slash role until he can be a starter.

That said - I don’t fear that he will be winning Multiple Super Bowls the next 10 years, so eff them.
