It sounds like Patterson is the front runner to nab the final spot on the Hawks roster. Of the remaining players, he's gotten the most minutes and was the only guy to play in the final preseason game. Most of the Hawks writers seem to think he's going to make it.

Doubt he will play much if he does, but would be a big accomplishment for him.

The Thunder waived Talib Zanna, so he will likely head back to the D League or overseas.

He may not get that many minutes, but he'll definitely get some serious scratch. Thrilled for Lamar and his family. He worked very hard for this.

Lamar is officially a Atlanta Hawk today.

Grandma -- please offer Lamar our fullest congratulations! We are very proud of Lamar.

I'm also proud to say that I probably got to know Lamar better than any Panther over the last 10 years or so. With this, I'm very pleased for him as a basketball player, but even more pleased because of the way that he conducts himself as a man.

Thank you so very much, and I will relay your message to him, we are all very proud of Lamar, he worked very hard in his academics, and BB, and now he is getting his reward.

Grandma,

My congrats to Lamar also. In addition, I want to apologize for doubting. I thought his upside was an overseas pro career. I didn't think he could make an NBA team. I am delighted Lamar has proven me wrong.

No Problem, there were many that doubted Lamar, but Grandmom never did.:) I knew how determined Lamar has been all of his life, if anyone was going to give it his best, I knew it was him. I thank you for your kindness by apologizing, you didn't have to do that, but it shows what kind of a thoughtful person you are.

They took Lamar over JJM?

Just kidding. Cant believe some of us were calling for JJM over Lamar early in their careers (looking the other way).

Great for Lamar. Assuming he's making league minimum, that's $450K this year. Its not millions but if he sticks a few years and invests wisely, he could be set for life.

A little more than $450K

Lamar had a +10 in 18 minutes of play (listed as a SG). The next best on the team was +5. All the starters were negative. Not a bad game for your first ever NBA game.

Yeah, with this under his belt.... bet he will wake up tomorrow feeling fantastic (other than the fact that his team lost).

Patterson got something like 21 minutes last night. I may have to move the Hawks up on my league pass list.

Was in Atlanta a couple days before the final roster cuts and the broadcasters were talking up how well Lamar was playing. Interestingly, they still were talking how the Hawks might just want to cut him anyway and keep the roster spot open in case another established player should happen to fall in their laps. Don't know that they would be saying that now (with how well he is playing)

If that be the case, I'm sure Lamar would have no problem going somewhere else, I hope that won't happen.
