Larry Fitzgerald has more career tackles (40) than dropped passes (29) in the NFL

Pretty wild. Good thing he doesn't have 41, or the Steelers might not have won that Super Bowl.

Also... 40 seems like a hell of a lot for any offensive player. Probably a reflection of some of the QBs he's played with in there somewhere.

The other WRs likely run the other way rather than try to make a tackle after and INT or fumble.

Dude is just amazingly amazing. If he plays two more seasons he can catch Jerry Rice at 1,549 catches. Larry is at 1,411 now, assuming he keeps his pace now, which is 33 through eight games, he would pass Rice.

Might be difficult because Larry isn't being a stat hog.

Understood.

That is why I used a very conservative number of catches for him and mentioned that he had 33 through eight games this season, which is just 4.1 catches per game.

At first, I thought it wasn't that impressive considering his targets and that WR's probably get lots of tackles on INT's targeted to them. However, most of those tackles weren't on his targets!

I remember that game where he had both a drop and a tackle (Seattle). At the end of the game, he also had a huge break-up of a sure INT to keep a potential gw drive alive. They still lost though.

One thing is clear, Larry is truly a very rare player. He is the absolute meaning of being the MVP everyday. He lives for the game, plays for the game, and respects the game more than anyone. You cannot have a 17 year career unless you have the greatest work ethic, unbelievable luck avoiding injury, and having the ability to be productive even at his age. The guy is truly a rare specimen as an athlete and person.

He'd be one of those 5 people you invite when asked to pick 5 people to have dinner with.

Pitt legend Larry Fitzgerald has played 258 games so far in his 17-year NFL career.

In that time, he has 40 career tackles, but only 29 dropped passes (some of which are questionable).

This video breaks down this unbelievable statistic.
he needed one more step for 41 and the Cardinals probably would have won the super bowl...
