I was at the game in Toledo several years ago. Pitt was ranked, I believe, in the top 10. We laid a big egg, could not stop Toledo and our offense was horrible. It was unbelievable. OUCH

Thanks for the memories

Not the same Pitt team or Toledo team.

Fitz was on that team I remember listening to it on the radio… completely sucked

I wouldn’t mind if we never played a MAC school again. They’ve actually upset us a few times when we were ranked (Bowling Green, 2008) and it seems like every Motor City Bowl is a lot closer than it should be.

I hear you, but I think the MAC is mostly going backwards. I'd rather play them than some of those southern G5 schools. But yeah - Toledo, at Ohio, Akron, Bowling Green, Western Michigan... we have been MAC'ed more than I'd prefer to have seen.

I remember “where I was” listening on the radio. I know we complain sometimes about a game being streaming, with a bad broadcast, or on an obscure channel, but at least they are all on now.

Yet another weird case of the phenomenon of Pitt changing the game by being mediocre to bad.

I remember the SportsCenter crew commentating that it was unbelievable that there was no TV coverage for what ended up being a colossal upset of a top ten team for them to show highlights of. They had to pay for footage produced by they Toledo student AV club taping of the game to have anything to show.

My recollection is ESPN took the stance that something like that should never be allowed to happen again and it got the ball rolling on conversations within ESPN that greatly accelerated getting to where we are to today with every game involving FBS teams has some form of video broadcast coverage.

I was there that night in the Glass Bowl with my brother and my dad (since passed proud Pitt alum and the reason why I’ve been cursed with a lifetime of being a Pitt fan). One very distinct memory I have is every time Fitz came off the field he’d go all the way to the far end of the Pitt bench and sit there by himself until his next series. The other is the UT fans storming the field, ripping down a goalpost and carrying it to the open end of the stadium where they passed it over the fence to a bunch of kids on the other side, who took off with it and took it God knows where.

Brutal.

Ah yes, the "Sky's The Limit!" season.

Hillgrove and Oxzie were so frustrated in that game.
