What an absolutely terrible way to lose a game. Some thoughts:
- I have no idea how anyone who watched DiNucci could possibly think he was better than Pickett. He has more poise in the pocket, better arm strength, and was good in the tough and long situations. He will have to learn when to throw the ball away but he looks like we are in good shape for next year.
- The offensive line was terrible in this game. 30 carries for 55 yards doesn't even tell the story of how back the running game was. Keep in mind 26 were on Henderson's one run.
- How did Weah get caught from behind? Isn't this guy a sprinting champ? He also had at least two bad drops that I remember. Nice TD catch from RAL and Hall was good in the passing game.
- Everyone tip their hat to Maddox. Not only was he tough playing through injury but he defended every jump ball that VT tried again on him this year.
- Kessman is Blewitt 2.0. He misses some easy ones and can hit some boomers. Keep in mind we can possibly kick an FG there at the end to tie it.
- 3rd down - 2 for 12 for Pitt, 10-19 for VT. And I remember at least 4 third and long that we gave up. Ugh.
- I was ready to give Watson credit for his trick play TD and then he comes down and runs 4 trash plays at the 2. You have an athletic QB and don't roll him out near the goal line? You have a running play and waste your last TO?
- It's official - for the first time in years, we will be home for bowl season.
