The last time we have had LBs that hit and instilled fear in the opposition were Blades and Sessions. I think we may be back there w/ Bradley and Grigsby. These guys can move and hit!

We haven't had much luck with linebackers for a while. They either get injured or just don't play all that well. I'd like to think that the current guys will upgrade our LB play.

I agree that Bradley and Grigsby have nice potential - I also like Wirginis and am hopeful that Jamal Davis and James Folston are the real deal. Then we have the promising sounding frosh - Brightwell and McKee - as well as recruit Chase Pine. This groups sounds better than having guys converted from other positions...

Go Pitt.

MLB Matt Galambos, Star LB Nicholas Grigsby and Money LB Bam Bradley. Galambos was 3rd on the team with 72 tackles, Grigsby was a backup last season and had 28 tackles. Bradley was a backup too and had 36 tackles, I think the new system putting the LBers in position to make more tackles!

Sorry, but LB problems are definitely not something I have any experience with.
Yeah, you guys have had at least 4 or 5 since Shane Conlin back in '86. Linebacker U is an antiquated term up there but nice try.

Now you're just being silly. These are just the first team AAs:
  • Andre Collins
  • Lavar Arrington
  • Brandon Short
  • Paul Posluszny
  • Dan Connor
  • Sean Lee
  • Michael Mauti
That list doesn't even include other great college LBs like Bauer, D'Onofrio, Bowman, Hodges, Gelzheiser, Hull and Carson. Other than USC (and maybe Alabama if you don't consider the amount of NFL busts they have had) I don't know who else could claim the title of Linebacker U.

Why do you constantly troll the Pitt board?

Gelzheiser, wow that is a name from the past. Watched him play at Baldwin. Don't forget about Scott Gobb at PSU.

That's a nice list and I am not denying that you guys had some good linebackers but that name was attached to Penn State in the 70s. Your list takes in a 30 year period and many schools had many good LBs in that time period. Thus the moniker LBU is antiquated.

Go ahead and let me know a school with better LB pros right now than PSU. Pretty sure USC is the only one.

What position represents pitt at AA over the last 30 years?

We've had some good running backs but not steady enough to overtake USC for rbu. Under Harris, we actually had about 8 years in a row where we had the big east leader in reception yards a game. And this was when Miami was in the big east. Its nice that PSU fans can come over on this board and debate a bit. Unfortunately we can't do the same on your boards because the person that moderates your board has a gash between his legs and bans us all immediately.

Penn State has had good LBs. I'll give them that.
But don't consult them about child molestation. They don't know anything about that sort of thing. Oh wait, that was just Paterno; that is if you buy their bit about their Ivy League educated coach, who they say single-handedly turned their ag school into a major research university, having lived in a bubble for the past 50 years and never realized that some men like boys.

I just looked at USC and I believe they have only had six AA LBs during that timeframe. Alabama may have more and I would think that OSU is a dark horse.

It also appears that OL is the most for PITT over the same timeframe with four. DL and WR with three each. I would have to guess that DL would be second (or maybe even first) for PSU.

EDIT: Yep, eight DL for PSU over that timeframe. Four RBs which is hard to believe. Not anyone recent though.

Why don’t you go onto the ups site? Let me guess, you are a ups grad that lives in the PITTsburgh area so you identify with PITTsburghers!

We need to recruit some MLB's this year. Hoping we can land Pugh this year, pretty sure he is projected to play in the middle. Love our current and future olbs, time to address the middle now

so sick of seeing self-conscience PSU fans on this board spouting crap. It is a Pitt board, we dont want to hear about your bragging of you poor team. No one is impressed, and there is not a Pitt fan... or really a fan of any school that would trade places with Penn State... none.

Those guys played an eternity ago.

Poz, Connor, Lee and Mauti are still in the NFL. So are Bowman, Hodges, Hull and Carson. That's hardly an eternity ago.
All that talent. Penn st is at the top of my list of schools who have all these AA's but dont win titles. Not even leauge titles.

That's what happens when your goal is to win recruiting battles and not league or national titles.

Kjb, serious question. If you graduated form Pitt AND Penn State, why do you have the psu logo above your name? I love Pitt, but if they let happen what psu let happen, I would be ashamed of sporting that logo. You can love something and still feel shame in it. Showing that log means you have pride in psu, which is fine. But a degree of humility should also be shown because of what happened. No one says you can't love your school or not to stand by it, but at some point you have to realize how wrong it was and not go throwing your pride in psu in everyone's faces. It makes you look bad.

Great point. You recruit linebackers as well as you hire coaches who prey on little kids.

Yeah...old "credit card" Gelzheiser was the player on which JokePa perfected depth chart justice. With DuhNofrio out for the season, Credit Card had to play and Jope had to "wait until all facts were in" before disciplining him. Oddly enough he played the entire season and bowl game before his (both illegal and) NCAA infraction could be dealt with...Success with Honor...nobody was surprised all those years later when AllB1G Safety Anthony S. Called for reinforcements to storm into a party of actual students and mess some guys up. "You gotta real witch hunt on yer hands"...JVP (disgraced former coach at UPS). Don't think Bowman missed a snap either despite two on campus incidents with real students.

How about Tom Bill, totally blasted out of his mind, stupored and sleeping on a street corner?
