Look - some of the “season is over” posts are a bit much.
We’re still likely a tourney team and overall we played … well today?
So this isn’t a “we’re losing out post”. It was a Quad 1 road game … and we were a few bounces away.
But … wasn’t this supposed to be the “Leave No Doubt” year?
The year we finally put it all together and actually leave no doubt after a nice, but highly flawed previous 2 seasons.
And nope - it’s not a complete disaster … there’s a good roster. Great flashes. Good talent. No bad losses.
But man … any time we are in a close game against a good team… you’re just waiting to see how we screw it up. Don’t get a rebound. Defensive lapses. Hero ball shots. Turnovers. We do it all.
I’m so frustrated - if it was just that we weren’t good enough … then fine.
But we’re just not good enough to have the focus lapses we do. The margin for error for us is small - and we just do not play like winners when it gets tight.
Or .. maybe we just aren’t that good?
Either way - you guys can keep kicking the can saying “oh well, good loss”! Which is fine in each 1 game sample.
But this team doesn’t have an impressive win in like 2 months … another game we were down 15+ in.
If you want to be take seriously - you win some of these “tough games”.
We don’t - I don’t know if it’s because of our coach, our players, or whatever.
But something in our programs DNA right now is just … “bubblish”. Or “losers”.
We just can’t seem to take the next step.
