After a night of reflection and a bit of drinking, I realized yesterday’s game could be good for the program for one reason: There’s nowhere to hide now. I can argue that beating Cuse, BC, then stealing one from a banged up Duke team to go 5-7 could create an illusion based on a small sample size that the trajectory of the team is pointing up. The worst case would be Pat deciding to run it back with CV/FCJ and minimal staff changes. In this case, we could have been looking at a 2023 repeat in 2024.
Because of yesterday, there’s nowhere to hide this offseason. No matter what happens the next two games, there’s no way Pat can put lipstick on this pig. CV is showing what needs to happen in the portal in the offensive coaching staff is showing what needs to happen November 26th (at the latest).
Pat isn’t getting fired this year, but maybe this season can be the reality check he needs. Now I know that’s far from a sure thing, but that’s all I got. Go Steelers
