Let's not jump off bridges just yet

Hawkeye fans told us all week that their team this year was better than last year's team, particularly in the QB and DB department. Pitt fans were unsure if we were better than last year, especially as a running team with our top 3 RB's out/hurt (Conner, Ibrahim, James), our OL graduating the right side that worked great last year and losing arguably our best returning lineman for the year, having only 1 WR with any experience or fanfare, and plenty of questions regarding the LB and DB unit.

We played an even game with Iowa, came back from 10 down at halftime, put together a 75-yard drive to tie it in the final minute when absolutely necessary, and saw that we were basically Iowa's equal. If they know their team is definitely better than last year's, then I'm at least enthused to believe that Pitt is currently better than last year's squad when we were again basically Iowa's equal (but outscored 17-3 by them after halftime). Of course there are plenty of issues that need addressed ASAP (getting a consistent running game that isn't super predictable, opening up the playbook more on offense, having Peterman continue to find non-Boyd receivers, not allowing so many opposing receivers to be open 7-10 yards down the field, going for it on 4th and <1 between the opponent's 35 and 45), but the team is moving in a positive direction, and we believe recruiting is as well.
