Let's talk $$$

Should be a trickle down right? Kind of embarrassed i didn't already know this.

ACC revs.

The conference gets one "unit" for every game that a team from that conference plays in the NCAA tournament. I'm not sure if there is a difference between making the championship game and winning versus making it an losing, because both Virginia and Texas Tech played the same number of games. But each unit is worth something around $280,000 at this point. And conferences get paid out for each unit every year for six years. So that one unit worth $280,000 this year will eventually bring in $1,680,000 (plus inflation). But that isn't just for Virginia, that's for every ACC team that played a game in the tournament.

Needless to say, the ACC makes a ton of money each year on NCAA tournament units.
