Line is out

Dan,

No, Tuesday nights are not good for me and 9 pm is even worse. My wife works and I have to get my oldest to dance.

Probably won't be in till BC game in mid January. The older the kids get, the harder it is to get away. It seems like they have something going on most days.

Hoping to get to about 6 this year.

Hope to see you soon, tell your wife I said hello and have a great Christmas.

The bigger question, Dan, is where will JOHN be putting his money!?
Not sure which way to go on this one, DT. I've followed every game on the radio, but I've only been able to see the Gonzaga game on TV. I'd feel much better if I knew the defense had improved some from last year, but I'm not so sure about that. Tomorrow will give all of us a much better idea what kind of a team we are.

I have no idea either.

Actually, I thought we would lose to Gonzaga by 10, so I was pretty pleased with that first half. But who knows, maybe we would have lost (or won) by 10.

If I had to put money on it, I'd probably put it on Purdue. But I wouldn't put much money on it, especially with the game being at the Pete.

I know you will, but be sure to give a heads up when you are coming in.

I think this game will come down to who's bench players play better. For us that means Jones, Jeter (if Dixon can find a spot to play him), Slim and the new PGs. We have all this depth but last game it didn't buy us diddly crap.

I am concerned Dixon hasn't put these players together as a team as much as we need against Purdue. Maybe they will come together better tomorrow.

It seems almost impossible to tell whether Pitt's defense is better than last year given the new officiating emphasis. I have watched all or part of various games by various teams (including Pitt games) and I have yet to see any real effective defense played by anyone. It is an entire new paradigm. Last year's level of Pitt defensive effectiveness (which was considered poor) could be an excellent level of defense under the the new officiating paradigm fo all we know.

It is truly hard to figure out (for any team; not just Pitt) what constitutes playing good defense given the freedom of movement, no touch, no bump officiating emphasis. Just about every game I have watched looks to me about like street-ball or AAU ball with defense optional.
