Femi and Burton can now
take most of the minutes
at the guard spots. Santos
can back them up, but one
of either Burton or Femi
MUST be on the floor at
all times. I'd like to see
Santos on the wing with
the guards looking to get
him an open shot, or an
inside out game getting
Santos the ball. Ezeakudo
gets limited minutes at pg.

I feel Jeffress should play
less until he develops more.
His TO's are killers. I'd give
Santos more of his minutes
at the 3. Santos doesn't force
it and plays within himself.
He's a shooter.

Olidapo like Burton, brings
experience and it's obvious.
They both need to see major
minutes.
Gueye??....I don't know what
to make of him. He's quick, can
handle, and co ordinated. The
problem is I feel he doesn't
play in the context of the
offense. Way too much
freelancing. I thought he was
here as a Big.
Femi and Hugley...we need
em both. They're our best.

Collier? Adds nothing IMO.
Peyton? I need to see more.

I admittedly haven’t seen all the games but of what I have seen, I agree with your thoughts.

Particularly w/r to Gueye. Every time he got the ball, I felt no one else was going to see it again, it was either going to be him shooting or turning the ball over.

Yeah I agree I don't care what you call them as far as position but our 5 man rotation should be in this order of minutes

Femi
Hugley
Burton
Oladapo
Santos
Jeffress
Gueye
Payton
Collier
Onye
Max

Yeah, I agree...but with
one change. Gueye, much
as I criticized his game so
far, I do think he could see
time at the three. BUT he
would have to play it as he's
supposed to. Get a few shots
(he can hit the 3), work the
baseline and rebound. He
should also back up Hugley
rather than Collier. Collier?
He brings us nothing. He
should move down to low
mid major IMO.

Collier provides nothing but a blow.
I like Payton in any spot more than Collier. I see actual potential in Paytons rebounding. He skied last night and grabbed a ball high up way out of the general area that he was.
He needs to just settle down. But he's one guy i think we'll see good improvement from as the year goes on.

Ezeakudo is at least serviceable for 3-4 minutes a half. On a good team he wouldn’t see minutes, but he can serve a role on this team at the very least.

I saw Gueye in the scrimmage. He played under control and looked great.

in the regular games is he both trying to do too much and moving too fast.

He was horrible against Citadel, better against WVU and did not play much because of missing practice time last night.

At this point, I think he is closer to figuring it out and being a contributor than Jeffress.

Do not take last night as a future indication of playing time.

He is as likely to hit a jump shot as anyone on the team. He blocks shots and had a very important rebound last night.

A few minutes, yes Unfortunately
he never attempts a shot, so he
is no scoring threat. Defenses
can play off him and make it
harder for the rest of the
players on the floor.

Last night, he hesitated on a
few drives and turned it over.
He's a walk on, so I give him a
pass on real criticism. He gives
100% and seems to be a very
good team mate.

Yes the bar is quite low, but wanted to at least add him into the original thread.

Before Collier even hit campus, looking at his highlights, I felt all he could do was dunk.

I thought Mo was supposed to be an excellent shot blocker and defender? I haven’t seen it yet.

2:00. Let's see if Phil DiLucente does his job!
Well let's look at the positive recruiting spin here. If you get into legal trouble under Capel, he's not just going to automatically bounce you from the program. Now, getting with a teammate's girl... that's zero tolerance territory :)

Reading the tea leaves, gives the impression Pitt thinks this will be resolved?

Besides not shooting, I don't think he's a very good passer. But he dribbles well enough to be of some help with the pressure this team is going to be facing after opponents see tape of the WVU game.

Didn't he nail a 3 in the first half against the sister cousins? It's the only shot I remember him attempting.

He did. He's taken two shots in three games and made one of them.

All you need to know is that if he was on The Citadel's roster instead of Pitt's he wouldn't have played one second of the game when we played them.

Not one second.

But he's not on The Citadel. So what I need to know is whether he can hit an open 3 with more consistency than what we're trotting out there.

Ironically, this is what lead to the Johnson, Toney, McGowens breakup
If this is a joke, it's actually pretty funny. But since you mentioned McGowens instead of Champagnie, I wasn't sure if you were referring to something else.

If Champagnie actually was dating a 3, I'd imagine he's upgraded significantly now that he's getting an NBA paycheck.

I thought the same thing happened the year before with McGowens. Maybe the locker room scuffle was about something else. Those 3 couldn't keep their hands off each other (or each other's girls). Unbelievable that a class like that who came in together couldn't get along. A lot of that is on Capel.

Obviously?

In his time at Pitt he's played 27 games. He's made a grand total of 4 threes. If it isn't obvious to you at this point that he can't actually make threes then I don't know what to say.

Do you really think that if he could make threes at a decent percentage that he would not only turn down so many wide open threes, but that he wouldn't even consider shooting them the large majority of the time?

You were saying?

and you say it's obvious he can't make them.

Edit: I forgot to use the sarcasm font

He won't even shoot them unless he is wide open, and even then for the most part he still doesn't shoot them. Has he made even one guarded three in his whole career at Pitt?

If his coaches thought he could make them they would be telling him to shoot the ball a lot more. If HE thought he could make them then he would shoot a lot more of them. It's kind of funny that you have so much more faith and confidence in his shooting abilities than he and his coaches do.

Keep moving those goalposts Joe.

Orrrr, you could just admit that you were wrong.

What goal posts have I moved? He isn't an answer as a three point shooter because he refuses to shoot them. If we bring Chris Payton in next game and he makes a three will you think that he's a solution to our shooting woes because he'd be shooting them at 100%?

It's as if you think that if he would just start firing up a half a dozen threes every game that he would help solve our shooting problems, and that it's just a matter of time until both himself and the coaches realize that he should be shooting them regularly, when in reality if he starts taking a half a dozen threes every game he won't make all that many more than he does right now.

The kids young and obviously not a guy whose going to shoot the ball every time he gets his hands on the ball . Let’s see how he progresses Thur the season .

Maybe the coaches want him to shoot more , have you asked one ?
