Won’t tease it too much, but there’s a huge amount of information in this piece and it’s very much worth the read. It seems that a pretty significant renovation - not just flipping the court and repainting to the new colors - is underway at the Pete in a big way.

It’s behind a paywall, but here’s a tip: if you download The Athletic’s iPhone app, you can read three articles a month for free. I’d recommend doing that if you aren’t a subscriber. Really hoping they add Pitt coverage to their Pittsburgh team - it might cause me to sign up.

Thanks for the tip. Nice in depth article.

This is a bingo:

“It doesn’t matter how good the program is, man,” Capel says. “If you don’t take care of it, it can fall apart. We tell recruits: You have this beautiful plant or you have this seed that can produce this great plant. It can be beautiful. It can grow and spread and it can be beautiful. But, man, if you stop watering it and taking care of it, what’s going to happen? It’s going to wilt and it’s going to eventually die. And I think this program wilted big time.”

Dixon did a great job here and will most likely continue to be Pitt's greatest coach ever......forever but HE and only HE let the program wilt. People like to blame Pederson or the ACC or whatever but it was Dixon's program and on his watch, he handed a team to Kevin Stallings which only had 2 ACC-level underclassmen

The fossilized remains of this horse seem to indicate it was beaten well after it was already deceased.

That was a great article.
And fits right in stride if what Capel has been preaching the whole time about building a foundation brick by brick.
I think his experiences, his set backs, and his success at Duke, gives him the perfect recipe for an honest rebuild.

Ohh yeah hopefully this turns into another Dixon thread.
We need more of those.
