The people chasing you if you have a big lead are running all out, either in a straight line or on their estimate of their best angle.
Does it help the runner with the ball to make a sharp cut because it forces the pursers to unexpectedly have to break their straight line sprint?
Even on Henderson's fumble at the goal line, I thought if he planted his leg and cut it back, he would have scored untouched. The pursuit knew he was racing to the outside and they were flying trying to get there.
I think I have seen many cases where the pursuit is eliminated with a late, sharp cut.
With that being said, Weah had absolutely no excuse for not scoring. Late cut or not, he should have scored easily.
