Wife and I are heading down for the game and would like to stay north of Charlotte along I-77, maybe around the I-77/I-485 interchange. Looking to see if that’s a decent area? I think someone mentioned light rail running in that area to the stadium? Also, looking for some decent bar hopping pregame that can be done easily on foot by the stadium. Any help? Thanks

Depends on where around the interchange you’re talking? There are some really nice areas in Huntersville and Mountain Island Lake.

If you're looking to stay outside of downtown Charlotte (not by the stadium) these are my two favorite areas.

NoDa area is a cool artsie place with a good collection of bars and restaurants. If you google "Neighborhood Theater, Charlotte" you will be in right area.

If you're looking for a No-Frills Old school Charlotte, try the spots around Thomas Street Tavern.

Think of Huntersville area since we’re coming in from north on I-77.
Not a bad area. Not a ton to do, but I always like the Duckworth's there. Great food and good beer list.

As far as bars for pregame in and around the stadium, I never really loved the options within a short walk (relative term, meaning two blocks). They get over-crowed (Draught is where everyone goes and you won't be able to move). There are a few places around the "French Quarter" which is across the street from the baseball stadium. Ink n Ivy is about a year and a half old and a place many people go before the game.

Personally, I'd start in the "South End" or Dilworth where all of the breweries are and make my way inward towards the stadium. After that you could stop around 5th and Trade where there are another 5/6 bars all on the same corner and then head toward Mint where the stadium is (5-10 minute easy walk from 5th and Trade where all the high-rises are) That would be my "bar crawl" pathway.

Can I ask your age range, who you'll be with (kids?), what time do you plan on driving in from Huntersville, do you want to eat prior, etc? That would help me

Fitzgerald's downtown is an Irish Pub and great Steeler bar. Only bad thing is that the Parks and Recreation majors rom UPS meet there to watch their games. Oh, I forgot, they didn't make their conference championship.

We are in our 30s and kids are with Grandma all weekend (yay). Staying in Hunrersville as a base and just Uber into city.

Graham St Pub & Patio will have lots of PITT fans and closest bar to both BB&T baseball and Bank of America Stadoum. Rooftop with 3 bars....ask for Amit or Dimitri we will take care of you!

Well personally I am a fan of the Courtyard Hooligan and the strip of bars there next to the park where I am sure they will be having ACC pregame activities. Also Ink and Ivy is usually packed before the Carolina Panther games so I would expect the same at this event.
