Looks like rain tomorrow and ticket prices

Weather map is looking iffy.
Will rain help or hurt Pitt?
I’m seeing and hearing the ticket market isn’t as strong as scalpers expected.
Personally I think the 8pm start may have hurt sales slightly and the rivalry is losing its luster.

I buy many tickets on Stubhub. 95% of the time, prices drop dramatically the closer it gets to game time. I have gotten unbelievable deals to big-time events this way. Paid $120 for 1st row seats to Pitt/PSU last year.

Just please none of these new age "weather delays" that have been occurring. Unless there's lightning, but that's all. The whim of the elements is another facet of what gloriously make this sport superior.

Seriously there's no Steelers game the next day so chew, chew, chew that grass up!

Accuweather says light rain after 10:00. No biggie. I'm under an overhang though.

Like I said before, 2 years ago was “the return”. Tomorrow is just another game. The appepetite isn’t as strong for the casual fan....even with an 8:00 start. If Pitt was ranked, it would be packed. Being the 2nd home game in a series...it’ll get some, but won’t make it a must see event like 2 years ago.

James Conner starting for the Steelers is a bigger deal imo and MUCH more talked about around town.
 
Price pattern is similar to 2 years ago. Highest in mid-August, came down and spiked up nearer to game time. May not see a spike this time due to the forecast and it being the 3d in the series. Prices were pretty high about 3 weeks ago.

Rain and cold all night, some heavy rain later in the night around 10PM. Temperatures dropping all day into the 50's by tonight.

How can we be in the 90's for days in a row just a week ago, and now in the 60's and 50's?
 
Id much prefer this weather to having them suffer in heat and humidity. At least it now looks like we'll have a dry period for most of the day, according to accuweather.

I kind of wish the Steelers game was at home tomorrow so we could tear up the turf for them.

What makes you think the Steelers would play on a field that was all torn up? The NFL would cancel the game dummy. I would only hope that Rooney would charge field repairs to Pitt.

Side note, ticket prices on stubhub are VERY low now. No thanks on sitting in the rain though.

Rooney has nothing to do with it since the Stillers don't own the stadium. The Sports Authority and the taxpayers own the stadium.

I couldn't care less what happens to the Stillers. I don't watch them and don't care.

You are the type of person that finds an excuse not to attend. Let’s be honest. The only way you might go is if the weather was 72 degrees, no wind, no rain, and the tickets were dirt cheap.

I attend about half of the games a year. Some are given to me free, or if I like the matchup enough, i’ll buy them off a scalper or stubhub. I don’t want to give up 6-7 saturdays a year for Pitt football. I’m fine giving them a 3.5hr slot from my couch with friends.

And as far as the psu game, i wouldn’t attend if Pitt gave me free tickets, paid my parking and gave me $100 to spend on food.

I couldn't care less about the Steelers and Rooneys. And the NFL wouldn't cancel the game due to a muddy field, asshat. Remember the Monday night game a few years ago against Miami?

The rain is going to bring down the energy in the stands. Of course the student section will still bring it, but I won't expect that for everyone in their ponchos. They'll just save it for the big moments and probably the start of the game and second half. As far as the teams go, I really like what Pitt can bring with the ground game and short passing attack. I think Penn State likes to take some chances, so they can get some breaks if a DB slips, but throwing the ball down field in the rain isn't easy for all QBs.

I think that while our secondary has improved, the rain really helps us in this regard. Get Ollison rumbling and wear them out on the ground.
