Lowe Bashing

nobody forced Lowe to dribble the clock out and heave threes. If he can't be the "guy" in his 2nd year in a dog shit conference, how good are you? He was horrendous. Not even like below average. He was awful.

Blame Capel, that's fine. Truly, I don't care. All I know is that he stinks.
Yes, he "stinks" so much that a blue blood, consensus preseason top 10 team has brought him in to be their starting PG as part of their top 5 recruiting class.

Most people already know who actually stinks, and I suppose we'll find out this winter whether the remaining people come around or just invent new excuses and find new scapegoats for the root cause of our program's issues.

Blaming all of Pitts woes on the coach or Lowe or Corhen is a bit harsh .

Look at the team stats:
156th field goal %
145th 3 pt %
268th total rebounds
120th pts scored

You can blame the roster composition on the coaching staff , but I believe that NIL was the major issue there .
Dunn’s injury certainly didn’t help matters either .

But the team couldn’t rebound or shoot and it cost them 5/6 times last season . You may want to blame the coaching staff on these deficiencies, but my take is that the players just weren’t good enough .

There was a time where recruiting was all about selling the university, the city , the faculties etc today it’s only about how much . Look at their current roster for next season and tell me they went out and got any of the best players available.

Capel might not be the greatest game day coach , but he knows talent and what is obvious is that he can’t recruit enough top end talent to Pitt . Expecting another coach to do any better with similar resources is wishful thinking.

Until Pitt finds some deep pocket boosters Pitt will continue to be mediocre at both Fb and Bb .

Your takes are always pure crap.

the entire team stinks. Lowe. Ish. Cam. Twins. They all sucked. Ish was worse than Jaland, IMO. but both were awful.

Think what you want , but there’s no coach that can consistently win without talent and talent cost money .

Yenz thinking that the university and its major donors care enough about having excellent Fb and Bb programs to finance the programs at the levels needed are just deluding yourselves.

It’s like blaming the GM and the manager of the Pirates and forgetting the fact that their payroll ranks 26th and their only about 250 million less than the Dodgers .

Please compare Pitt’s payroll to the payrolls of the 500 teams to whom capel has lost, doctor

Has KY already named Lowe their STARTING PG, let alone a PG at all?

Has KY already named Lowe their STARTING PG, let alone a PG at all?

Of course they haven't officially named a starting lineup as it's early June, but he was recruited there to be their starting PG and there isn't anyone else on the roster who is expected to compete for the job. He's supposed to slot in as a replacement for Lamont Butler who is out of eligibility.

The only people on Earth who seem to think Jaland Lowe isn't a P4 PG and/or that Pitt is better off without him are a select few posters on this site. You can keep hoping otherwise, but all indications are that Lowe will thrive next year in a functional offensive system. If that is the case, I'm sure you and your peers here will try as hard as you can to avoid the obvious implications.

He may thrive but contrary to what you say there are no “ indications”, whatever that means, that this will be the case. He played selfishly last year and his shooting and defense were horrible.

Yes, you're one of the people I was talking about in my post.

Either nearly everyone else, including a highly regarded coach who eagerly snapped him up out of the portal, is wrong about Lowe, or you and the other haters of everything related to Pitt basketball along with the Capel ball washers are clueless. You know where my money is at.

I'm not even some huge fan of his, but I recognize we aren't a better team without him going into next year and have not completely detached myself from reality concerning his skill level.

He's the clear favorite to be the starting PG (there isn't really another option on the roster) and he'll be playing with elite talent on a preseason top 10 team led by a skilled coach who is excited to build a team where he's a key contributor. How is that not an indication that he'll thrive?

Let’s agree-to-disagree. We all love Pitt, but have different opinions about see the level of talent that we have on our MBB team, and Jayland in particular.

Feel free to stop posting absurd takes if you don't want to get responses.

And if any of you clowns find a single person outside of this site who thinks Lowe isn't a P4-level player, feel free to let me know.

Contrary to what you state , we are not haters. If you don’t agree about my assessment of Lowe’s play last year, you know nothing about basketball. Lowe was sought by other schools, mot because of his accomplishments last year, but because of his potential, which is considerable. I would have preferred that he stayed at Pitt but that doesn’t detract from the point that he played poorly last year. Bottom line is that you built accusations and conclusions about our criticism of Lowe which are completely off base!
